Specific Instructions for Loading new BIN files

This is a C&P from catfishnut, all the credit goes to him for this information.

Many people have developed or adopted certain practices for downloading new software to their Coolsat 4, 5 and 6K receivers.

I will not state that these methods do not work. However, there is a specific and "most" appropriate method to load new software to your receiver.

If you follow this procedure, you may prevent some rather nasty problems from occurring. The chances are very slim that you will experience any problems, but if and when they occur, you will certainly wish you had done something to prevent it. The procedure that I cite in the attachment will save you that headache.

Please read it so that at least you know the basics. There are some added benefits in this that you may not realize.

Obviously the procedure appears long, but that is only because of how I worded it (as a step by step procedure). We take most of these steps for granted. I wrote them out in full length, word by word, so it makes the whole process seem very long on paper, but it truly isn't a time consuming endeavor.

The entire process requires approximately 12 minutes.
That is not too much time to spare to prevent the hours or days spent correcting a problem that might occur.

I wish you to know of this procedure so that you can at least make your own decision. At least you will have the knowledge of how to do it the recommended way.

My best wishes to everyone for the new year!

Enjoy and keep testing!
