So whats the best Plasma TV

I curently have a 65" projection Toshiba, Which I truly enjoy. But This sucker takes up way to much room. And does not have the HDMI jacks. So I have to use the componet jacks for HD. I am thinking of up grading to a plasma. I'm kinda interested in the Panasonic Vierra 52"er. Or something larger. Bigger is better right? Any one have any thoughts or advice on this suject. Thanks.

Re: So whats the best Plasma TV

If you want a plasma tv that will last the test of time, sony is the way to go. jmo. With the falling off of plasma tv sales, due to being power hogs, lcd is the way to go. Plasma uses 3 times the power as a crt tv. lcd only uses twice the power as a crt tv.

Re: So whats the best Plasma TV

You should consider LCD and they are getting real cheap also these days.

And also an extended warranty on some of the not so popular brands.

Plasma is not the way to go, imo.

Sony Bravia 1080p LCD is my personal choice with at least 3 HDMI ports.

Re: So whats the best Plasma TV

If you really like the way a plasma looks sitting directly beside a LCD of the same size and a higher price (which I do Because I still believe the picture quality and color is much nicer). Get a Panasonic. I have the 42" Viera (pz800) and I absolutely love it. When running a Bluray I have yet to see a TV with better picture quality. LCD's are nice, cheap and for the most part the average user wouldn't notice the little nuances of a nice plasma. I do. But I won't lie, they do have their drawbacks. I just believe that these are out weighed by the (still) superior picture quality. Also, bigger isn't generally better as bigger means bigger (and more noticeable) pixels. The pixel matrix is much harder to see on a plasma so there's another bonus for big plasmas.

Re: So whats the best Plasma TV

My opinion is that plasma has gone the way of the sony betavision(which you can probably find to this day @ goodwill or 2nd hand stores) as for the size issue beeker is correct. The rule of thumb as I know it is 37" & smaller stick to 720p/1080i(same thing) & smaller as 1080p is overkill & not really produced as a result of this, 40" & bigger 1080p is a must for any kind of real picture quality.

Re: So whats the best Plasma TV

Just my opinion, instead of buying a Plasma or LCD Tv,why you don't buy a projector,it is cheaper nowadays.I already have a 47" Lcd Tv but was looking for something bigger so I went for a projector and now I enjoy my TV or movie on a 200" screen diagonally.I hooked up my K-box to the projector thru the Component cable to get better quality.
