Re: Captain Boot Fix Problem
You need thew Captain Loader 1.25 for this.
You also need to connect your null modem cable to use this file. Open it in the loader and if it doesn't connect, try changing the COM port to COM3 on the loader. You may have to go into the Device Manager and Click on the [+] in front of Ports to see which COM port your serial port is using. Good Luck !!

Re: Captain Boot Fix Problem
My mistake, this program is a loader also.
To use this, you need to connect your receiver to the back with the 9-pin null modem serial cable you received with your receiver, and this has to hook up to your serial port on your computer. Check your Device Manager and see which port your Serial Port is communicating on (COM1 COM2 COM3 or COM4). Click on the [+] in front of Ports while in the Device Manager. This is the port that needs to be selected in the boot fix loader. Go back and follow those instructions. If you are using a USB to Serial Adapter, check the below link out. USB To Serial Adapters - Help Guide For Loader Problems Good Luck !!

Re: Captain Boot Fix Problem
That looks normal, so your computer has a serial port and COM1 is what you should use. Check the port in Device Manager that says "communication port(com1)" and right click it, select Properties then the Port Settings Tab, and be sure it is setup like this:
Bits per second: 9600 Data bits: 8 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Flow control: None Then click the Advanced button. Check the box that says Use FIFO buffers You can slide both the sliders all the way to the right (max for both) Dropdown box that says COM port number, click on the arrow down. COM1 should not be in use. Or else this is the problem. Use COM2 if it is not in use, and check all the settings like you just did for COM1 above. If all settings are good, Click OK in that window, then click Ok in the COM1 Properties window. Now, follow the boot fix directions exactly: Captain 7100 USB Boot Fix v120 Let us know how it turns out.

Re: Captain Boot Fix Problem
Okay, does your receiver say "boot" on the display ??
Why are we trying to load the boot fix ? (The receiver may not need it) Have you simply tried to use the Captain loader v1.25 and loaded the factory file ? The loader for the Captain 7000 will work for the 7100 USB. Yes, the COM behavior is fine above. Use COM1 for loader 1.25 Download and unzip: Captain 7000 Premium Serial Loader v1.25 Download and unzip: Captain 7100 USB 7100USB Factory Bin File Turn receiver Off from rear power switch. Double click the Captain Loader. Click on Serial Set, and be sure COM1 is checked, and click Ok. Click File (upper left), then click Down, click on the factory file, then click the Open button. Be sure null modem cable is connected. Turn power ON, and the file should start loading. Be sure after that is done you WAIT until the receiver is done rebooting. Wait until nothing is going on in the display for 1 full minute. Now you download the latest file and unzip that. Latest File: Latest Fix New Bin File Captain 7100 USB 7100USB v727 4-23-08 Copy it to a USB drive, right click on the Safe Remove icon, in lower right toolbar, and click Safely Remove Hardware. Then click Stop, Ok, Close. Pull USB drive out, and put it in the USB port on your receiver, and load the new file with your remote. Good Luck !!

Re: Captain Boot Fix Problem
thats what i am seeing is more of not unzipping the file before trying to load , sorry I have ordered a 7100 but hasn't arrived yet.but usually a check s/w or invalid file is a sign of an unzipped "extracted" file.
