Captain 7100 USB Setup Guide
Download the latest file to your computer, unzip it, and load it on your USB drive stick. (If you are using a brand new USB stick, you will need to format it, simply insert your USB stick, go to My Computer, right click on the USB drive letter (example, F: drive), and select Format, then you want to format it to Fat 32, then close the window, you are done) Make sure the power is OFF from the back of the receiver (yes, the 7100 has a power switch in the back), make all your connections, turn it ON at the back, then power ON with remote. Now Let's Get Started Insert your USB stick into the receiver, and a popup window will appear asking if you want to download the file, Double check it is the correct latest file you just downloaded and loaded on your USB stick, then select OK. You will then see a screen that says “Progress”, dont do anything, wait for it to finish, and the receiver will reboot completely and come back on. When it reboots and comes back on, remove your USB stick, turn the receiver OFF at the back, then back ON again, when it reboots you will now go through the setup process. Choose Your...Language (then right arrow) Area Setting (then right arrow) Local Area Map (then right arrow) It will now show your RESULTS (right arrow again) Choose your switch settings (then right arrow) Choose your sats you want (un check all the sats you dont want by pushing the Ok button on the remote on those sats) It will now show you your USER SETTINGS RESULTS, right arrow again and you will see “Do you wish to proceed with one button setup?” You can select “Yes” if you are using a DiSEqC switch and it will automatically find your dish LNB type and DiSEqC port settings. For this guide, we will choose "No" so you can see how to do the rest of the setup manually. So... Right arrow to “No” and push “OK” on remote. You will now see “No channels available now. Press OK to search channels” Press OK and continue to manually setup. Scroll to installation and push OK on remote, to the right you should see “Dish Settings” and will now have a red dot and arrow beside it. Push OK on remote, enter your password (0000 unless you have changed it) and NOW you will go through the following steps: 1/ Scroll and choose your dish 2/ Set your diseqc switch and diseqc input to match your dish hardware setup or choose your type of Legacy Switch. 3/ Push the Blue button on your remote for a “Blind Scan” (Some use the Auto Scan(red button) but the Manual Scan(green) and Blind Scan (blue) seem to get better results and more channels missed by Auto Scan. It may take a little longer, but its worth it on the original initial setup. 4/ When the scan is complete, it will ask you “Wish to save the results?” and show you your TV and Music channels scanned. Select yes, and it will save and sort your channels. And that is it, simply repeat steps 1 – 4 for any remaining dishes you have, and when completely finished, exit all the way out to your tv screen, and wait for the keys to roll, if they haven't already, and enjoy TV, the rest of the main settings are automatic.
