I am trying to install the file I just downloaded from this site. The file is cw3000-sc-update-04-10-2.tar.bz

When I install it my CW 3000 HD gets to 100% unpacked and 30% installed, then says:

Could not install file
SHA1 file verification failed. Exiting update

I have downloaded the file 3 different times.

When it didn't work the first time, I downloaded usb_format.exe from the captiveworks.org website. Then ran it to format my usb drive freshly with FAT32. Then I downloaded the 4/10 update again, unzipped it to a folder on my computer's hard drive first, then copied the file to the freshly formatted usb stick. It still gives the SHA1 error.

Please help.

Did you maybe try the SC Update 04-10 first by chance ??

I wouldn't know how to help you, I do not have one of those receivers.

I wish I had one though for occasions like this.

I have downloaded the same file from about 5 different sites and they all had the SHA1 error. There was also some discussion about others having the SHA1 error with this update. There is a place in the install.sh that comes with it that references the error message, it's when the contents of the package don't match what they are supposed to be. The concept of the CW 3000 HD is cool but I never had problems like this with BIN's on my Sonicview 8000 or my Coolsat 7000. Hopefully whoever releases the BIN's could just re-create the package correctly and test it with a USB stick, then release another one. Or if anybody knows a FTP site I could try, just PM it to me. (I have no channels still) Thanks for anybody who could help.

Archive needs to repacked - install.ch is ouside the .tar file.

Another thing I didn't realize above is you have to have WINRAR installed. After you unzip the .tar or .gz files, then simply right click the file that you just unzipped, and select Extract Here to open up all the files contained in that .gz or .tar package. They are then needed to be moved to the CW-3000HD hard drive to their proper folders.

You should verify that the bin is the correct one. Download and unzip it in your computer, then get the unzipped file into a USB drive. Make sure you have a good USB drive. In the past I used an old one and got the same SHA 1 message. Sometimes you have to try to install the bin more than once. Then I bought a new USB drive and I almost don't have this problem.
