Converting .gts files to .mpeg to play on PCs

Tested with CW800S

Hi all,
Few weeks ago I had a problem playing .gts on my PC. I read the posts about renaming the file which unfortunately did not work for me. Thanks to several individuals on this site, they pointed me in the right direction to resolve the problem. The final solution was to download a file converter and convert the .gts file into something that would play on my PCs.
Since then I have played around with several converting programs that were advertised as free. Much to my frustration, some did not do the job as advertised, some were demo ver. and therefor limited, and yet others were bulky and complicated.
Finally I came across a zip file dating back to 2006/07. So this may be a repeat for some.

The name of the app. is conevertstream.exe. Very simple, no complicated settings, no quality issues, just source-destination and converter. Here is some info:

1. This app does NOT install into the OS. It is self sustaining, no issues with Win registry.
2. I only tested .gts to .mpeg. Not sure if it does other formats.
3. This is just a converter not a video editor.

Instructions:
1. Launch conevertstream.exe app.
2. In the OPEN (source) box, use the "browse" button and select the path and .gts file you want to convert.
3. In the SAVE (destination) box, browse or type in the location and name of the new file you want to create. MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE THE .MPEG EXTENSION AT THE END OF THE NEW FILE NAME.

EXAMPLE:
OPEN c:\ironman.gts
SAVE c:\ironman.MPEG

4. Click OK to start the conversion.

NOTE!!! There is NO status bar. The app. may look like it is not working but it is.
One way to verify is by going to new file location via "my computer" and view new file size. During the conversion process the size of the new file will be increasing as it is being built.
At the end of the conversion, the conevertstream.exe app. will confirm that it has successfully converted the .gts file.

Conversion time example: 2.5 hour .gts movie file took 12-15 minutes to convert. Time may differ depending on PC hardware and config.

Hope this helps.

Re: Converting .gts files to .mpeg to play on PCs

Thanks for the posting the converter, and the excellent information with it. I also became very irritated at not finding a suitable converter.

Please note that another player will play the gts files ,,,, its called GOM PLAYER. IT IS A FREE DOWNLOAD.

YOU dont have to do any convertings, it will play nearly all video types known.
It is very sleak and has the simple controls .
