Scrambled Channel after an hour
I ran bin CW800SV1.67 and patched it (f1 000). Picked up 110 and 119 via Dish 500, and the autoroll feature is set to on for both B3V and DN. However, the channels it scanned (with qualities ranging from 75-85%) never change from being "scrambled channel", after 1 hour now.. What could I be doing wrong?

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
You don't need to apply the patch after each new file, make sure that after f1 000 is pressed it says "Patch Enabled". Also check to make sure your antenna settings are still correct, I think this unit likes to confuse itself from time to time and not actually have the right antenna picked for the switch it is supposed to.

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
It actually says "patch enable" on screen instead of "patch enabled". Antenna settins didn't change and should be correct. The settings are as follow for each bird:
Echostar7 (119) Transponder: 12239/H.20000/5/6 LNB Freq: 11250 LNB Type: Normal 22KHz: Off Diseqc Number: None Legacy SW: Off Motoroised System: None Echostar6,8 (110W) Transponder: 12239/H.20000/5/6 LNB Freq: 11250 LNB Type: Normal 22KHz: Off Diseqc Number: None Legacy SW: Off Motoroised System: None It was able to pick up all the channels through the scan, but even after an hour and a half now, it stayed "scrambled". |

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
Do you have a switch installed? You need to tell the stb what port you have each sat on and use 12224 for Echostar6,8 (110W)
Transponder: 12239/H.20000/5/6. |

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
So I'm concentrating my efforts on Echo7 only now. I have set the LNB to its correct one (LNB1, on a 4 port DiSEqC Switch from CW). But still no luck...
To clarify, I am picking up good signal on 119, and when I scan it lists all the channels on Echo7. However, I am only able to view FTA (advertisement) channels, while all the DN package channels are shown as "scrambled", even after 1.5 hour of waiting. I had made sure the patch is enabled and autoroll for DN is on. Side question: what exactly is "autoroll"? Where do the keys come from (the bin file?)? |

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
First try a hard boot which is just turning the back power switch off for a few seconds then turn it back on.
Pick a channel on 119, anyone then go into the antenna settings and make sure the popup screen shows you that you are actually getting 119. Autoroll is what the stb does when the providers change the keys. The stb rolls to look for the new keys (A set of numbers) and when it finds the new keys it will replaces the old ones. You can look in the key section for an example of wht they look like. The bins are set up to look for new keys when the providers change them. Changing keys and knocking out AR was a method of temporally putting down stbs a good few months ago, not a method really used anymore. Quote:

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
Your settings didn't reflect the DiSEqC port numbers. When you wire an LNB to the DiSEqC switch, that number it is wired to has to be in the settings.
Also, describe what dish you are using. You may be able to bypass the DiSEqC switch you wired up to, if you have a twin LNB on a Dish 500. See above where you have shown -> Diseqc Number: None <- Check your DiSEqC switch and see which port it is wired to. Then change that in the Antenna Settings to that number.

Anyways, I was wondering whether CW800S is supposed to show a popup screen in the antenna settings when it picks up the 119? I didn't get a popup mssg before, and am not getting any now. However, the quality of the signal is pretty good (83-90%). |

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
It will when you're in the antenna settings. S is not signal, that's the connection between the stb and lnb. Q is what you need to look at for signal strength. If it's not somewhere about 50 plus it won't tell you what sat it is actually receiving.

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
Sounds like you may have some channels cross referenced to different satellites. I would do a Factory Default, (you will find this in your menus) which will delete all your channels and reset your Antenna Settings and other settings back to the preset defaults.
You will then have to Put your settings back in for Echo 7, hit the (Write them down and keep them in a safe place until you get used to what they are) You may want to check your Quality meter and be sure you have the signal above 75 on TP 12239. Here is a nice utility program for setting up the Dish 500: Dish Point Utility Most people have trouble installing the Dish 500 on account of not skewin the dish properly. Here is a pic of the satellites orbital arc: Satellite Orbital Positions So most peole will have to have the Dish 500 lean to the right. If you think of the Dish 500 reflector as being flat, it will bounce the satellite signal to the east LNB from 119W, and bounce the signal to the West LNB from 110W. These are also labeled on the Y yoke mount that way in raised print. If you have a Dish Pro Twin LNB, all you need to do is run one wire from the back of the receiver to one on the LNB ports. These would be your settings: Echo 7 119W LNB Power: On LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: Off TP: 12239 DiSEqC: Port 1 Motor: Off Legacy SW: None The best way to scan channels on your Captiveworks is here: When you are still in your Satellite Settings click the red AUTO button on the remote to scan that Satellite. Do this to each Satellite you want. Say NO to only FTA channels wanted. The PROGRESS bar will move down and the screen will change when it is done on each Satellite. Echo 8 110W LNB Power: On LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: Off TP: 12224 DiSEqC: Port 2 Motor: Off Legacy SW: None Maybe this will help you better. Lots of guys find Echo 8 when trying to adjust for Echo 7. If that seems to be the case, Echo 7 is just like 2 elevation points lower, and 9 degrees to the right. If you have the skew set properly on the back of the Dish 500, on a dead level mast pole, once you find Echo 7 and tweak it for best signal, Echo 8 is already sighted in as well, for you. Good Luck !!

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
Don't connect anything receiver to the lnb loop out port of the CW. It will cause a lot of problems.

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
Nothing is connected to the loop out port.
Right now, I am picking up Nimiq 1 and 2 on the two ports, with Q of 85% or so. Set autoroll to B3V on, but nothing coming up after 15 mins now.. I'm going to try again to get the dish to pick up Echo7 and 8 in a bit. |

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
Since you are on B3V, you try the below settings:
Nimiq 1 91W LNB Power: On LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: Off TP: 12224 DiSEqC: Port 1 Motor: Off Legacy SW: None Nimiq 2 82W LNB Power: On LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: Off TP: 12224 DiSEqC: Port 2 Motor: Off Legacy SW: None In the start of this thread you were showing Echo settings. You CAN scan B3V satellites for Echo channels, and that sounds like what you may have done that caused all the chaos, as B3V satellites mirrors some Echo channels. This is NOT recommended, however, and will cause you lots of grief. I would try the settings above and see if everything starts working good for you. Then in the future you may want to hook up another Dish 500 for the Echo satellites. Notice how both 91W and 82W are 9 degrees apart, as are 119W and 110W.

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
Thanks everyone. B3V worked until the 6pm shutdown, then moved to the two Eco's. Everything working perfectly now. What exactly are the LNB type and 22kHz settings for? I cannot see these specs on the LNB, how can I tell which type I have? My CW can only detect signal when LNB type is Normal.

Re: Scrambled Channel after an hour
LNB Type is OCS-DP for Dish Pro LNBs. DP LNBs have a built in DiSEqC switch.
So you would use these settings: Echo 7 119W LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq:11250 DiSEqc: Port 1 Echo 8 110W LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq: 11250 DISEqC: Port 2 If your LNB does NOT say Dish Pro or DP on it and it is a Twin eyed LNB, it is a Legacy LNB. This LNB has a built in 22KHz switch inside. You would use these settings: Echo 7 119W LNB Type: Standard LNB Freq: 11250 22KHZ: Off Echo 8 110W LNB Type: Standard LNB Freq: 12250 22KHx: On All you need to do is run one cable from the back of the receiver out to either port on the LNB. The same goes here for Quad output Twin LNBs.
