Re: dead coolsat 5000
Always be sure to unzip all files!! Load mainpg.pgm from the factory files . Do a factory reset with remote. Installation -> Factory Default. Write the latest bin file again.

Re: dead coolsat 5000
Try to load the Factory File: Coolsat 5000 Platinum Original Factory Bin File
Do a database reset. Then load the latest new bin file.

Re: dead coolsat 5000
The remote has nothing to do with writing the factory file from your PC. Unhook cable from Satellite dishes. See if that is draining power. Write the factory file to your receiver. See if the receiver powers up, okay, after that. When you do bin file writes, it is important to wait until the unit is done, and it reboots itself. Just because 100% is displayed on the PC, the receiver may still be doing something. Wait an extra couple of minutes and be sure it is done updating.
Remove remote batteries if your remote lights are low. Try new batteries. These batteries that come with remotes can work a year or a week, depending how old the receiver model is.

Re: dead coolsat 5000
I had the same problem with my receiver. I have a CS 5000. Load the factor reset bin 2 or 3 times then load the current bin. I hope that helps. If that does'nt work just keep trying. After the bin is loaded it has to go through erasing before you quit.

Re: dead coolsat 5000
Yeah, the main reason the receiver is quiting at 100% and not doing anything is it is still waiting for something. Most of the time, these problems occur when you shut off a receiver before it is done updating. Just because the computer says 100%, the receiver is not done, yet. Keep trying to make the receiver take a bin write. If you would have simply rewrote the same bin file you were writing at the time of the problem, it probably would have finished okay.
Never Ever Interrupt The Process Of Writing Any Bin Files. You also have to wait like 1 minute after it says 100% before you shut it off. The receiver is still doing something, and still may be writing data internally to other areas of the EEPROMs. I guess I am answering this post again so everyone who reads this may learn something from it. Like Joseph29 said above, try it again. 3rd time might be a charm !! The good news is your receiver counts up, and is actually working. Give it what it wants. It is not beyond repair, yet !!
