Time to cut the tie with Coolsat and likes. Move on to something that has better support.

So let me get this straight, should we wait for a new file from Coolsat before we do any hardware mods that are in the pdf files or no matter whether a new file comes out do we have to do the hardware mods in the pdf files?

Re: Digiwave 7000 to Coolsat 4000
Well, you would actually wait for a new file for a Cooltec.
Yeah, I would advise against doing all the hardware modifications. Since morgoth actually got a bin file to write, maybe the hardware mods are not necessary. (I had to track these documents down, as the site I found this original file from did not include the .PDFs with the hardware mods) It seems his display was displaying "boot" only, and looks like the hardware mods will convert it totally a Coolsat CLONE, or in other words, a Cooltec. So, it depends on what you want to do with your receivers, guys, use them for their intended purpose, True FTA, or using 3rd party software again as a Coolsat clone. I think the Coolsat files (Cooltec files remove the anti-clone software in Coolsat bins) would need to come out first before you go further. Maybe morgoth loaded a Coolsat 4000 bin and his receiver was taken out. He didn't say, but maybe he loaded the Coolsat 1.73 file. He may be able to JTAG it back to life again. He will need a different file to JTAG with, and I will get it to help him, as his receiver is now a Coolsat clone.

Re: Digiwave 7000 to Coolsat 4000
Okay all you my friends, take all the info as is. My Digiwave iīm sure itīs death. I have made all testīs and there is not answer but all what we are reading is only informational... or what can i say. Sometimes we are posting some things that we know that is dangerous but a digiwave 7000 is not for being sad, Just for experiencieng... here in my country, i didnīt have the pleasure to know another people interested in this stuff, thats why i was trying so hard to get knowledge because i only get some free channels (4) and i was trying to get some more but maybe my fta was so old or i was not prepared to try this kind of stuff. Maybe later iīll be getting another fta but iīm not realy sure because the good news only iīm reading in a forum like this but i donīt have a closer example to follow. I think itīs cheapper to pay for sat signal or something... i donīt know iīm sure that you my friends will help me later and iīm sure iīll get at least free channesl

Re: Digiwave 7000 to Coolsat 4000
Well, here are my 2 cents.
First, to resucitate your fried unit, and if no modification was done to the hardware, then you can load (flash with jkeys) the original DW7000 bin file (also called factory file) or even any of the DW7000 esting files, and the unit will be back from the dead (see, you have access to the only thing that can go wrong, the flash ROM). It seems that for cloning the DW7000 there's the need to add a flash eeprom (241c256) (mauybe the original eeprom was too small in capacity). This is major surgery as shown in the pictures and the schematic diagram. From what I've been reading, DW7000 units with serial number above DWDG70000503XXXX should be able to operate without hardware modification (probably they already have the new circutry and proper flash eeprom) By the same token, units with lower S/N may need the HW modification (mine is a Multistar 2500, supoussedly a DW7000 clone) I'm at the office right now, so tonight I'll open my unit and check what's inside. If you want to continue testing for a very low price, there's a very serious store in Guadalajara that sells a Captive Works 600S for about $1,200 pesos delivered to your door almost overnight (I know, it's not the best FTA, but it works!). If you or somebody needs the information, you can PM. Saludos |

Re: Digiwave 7000 to Coolsat 4000
Hi Dzenizo!! thanks for you reply. I was trying with jkeys to jtag original bin, but the bad thing is that jkeys is not detecting anything, thatīs why i think it is not working any more. About your suggestion about captive works it looks interesting, Iīll be looking, because sometimes i must go to Guadalajara. Gracias... y Saludos!!!

Last night I opened my MultiStar 2500 (DW7000 clone) and it looks exactly as the one in the pictures! There's even a place in the main PC board for the added eeprom.
One thing that bothers me is that the diagrama calls for defeating the serial connection and enabling the parallel connection??? What do the author refers to? Could it be the access to the eeprom? Because for what I've found, the eeprom is a 24LC256 32kx8 serial eeprom, could it be that the "L" was printed as an "l" (lower case)? The IC itself costs about $3 form Futurelec. Does anybody has the text for the conversion? It looks as if there's a kind of written steps, since the schematics refer to previous steps and known circuitry, like ssc0 and ssc1 lines. ![]() Saludos a todos! |

Re: Digiwave 7000 to Coolsat 4000
they just came out with a digi7 to cs4 conversion that needs no jtag
it works but then i tried the undo conversion it worked too, and my digiwave is back to a digiwave bin and using ftlink but now everytime i try to put a bin on the digiwave it completes and says wait for GOOD but it always says Err4 instead so i guess this means i have boot error or error 4 i saw you diagram for connecting R055 to 13.3V power Line i used to use a jtag on 2700 dishnet receivers, but never anything else when looking at the diagram is it the digiwave upside down, i do not see a jtag pad so i must have to take off the cover right ? sorry if i sound totally stupid but i never wanted to jtag again i have never had this kind of problem until i tried the conversion if i find the jtag pad on the digiwave7000 then i should be able to locate the power line if it is 3rd from one side as lond as i know 3rd if upside down or not the R055 i hope i can find that |

Re: Digiwave 7000 to Coolsat 4000
The Norw Group seems to have suppressed releasing a couple of bin files for the Coolsat 4000 on the past couple of releases. Only reason they are working now was an old file started working. I doubt the Norw Group is going to release bin files for their 4000 models anymore. This remains to be seen. You have to wonder if they will keep up bin file releases for the Coolsat 5000 model. I seen them hesitate on the last Coolsat 5000 bin file release.
So the whole idea for this Digiwave to Coolsat conversion may be all for naught. I am very curious and have to question why it has been reworked and surfaced again now. I would move on to a receiver brand with great support, like Sonicview or Viewsat or CNX and bypass anything related to Coolsat altogether. Coolsat has been busying themselves to distance themselves from themselves, believe it or not. They have created many other brand names and the support for those brands has also been mediocre at best as well. (If you PM me I will tell you the brands) This is all too bad, as at one time they had some of the best hardware in the FTA business. They had a great support team at one time. Now these great receivers have the poorest support. You know we hate to bash brands, but, when you see the poor support continue for so long, it has to be mentioned. They even claimed they were going to continue their support, and then they slowed again and stopped again for the 4000 models (4000 Pro and 4000 Plus). I do not see them continuing it for very long for the other models. Just an observation. No inside information to back this up. Our site does want to help our members and keep them informed.

Re: Digiwave 7000 to Coolsat 4000
someone told me that after i converted i should of started using a different cable
--------------------------------- c/p from just angel guys once you convert your digiwave...its now a cloned coolsat 4000 Coolsat 4000 Pro - Straight DB9 cable Digiwave 6800/7000 - Null Modem cable... now you know why your getting an error message --------------------------------- is this what happend ?? or that undo conversion just leaves your digi needing jtag or the conect R055 to 13.3v ?? i was using that digi for free to air channels and now it has no user data no satellite transponder/info and no way to add any i have another digi and could do a box to box data tranfer but the undone conversion bin "OneSoFine" left in the undo file has no option for box to box data transfer i have a question if anyone knows it could help...this err4 message that i get after i complete stb download to box... does anyone get the err4 when they just turn on box? mine is not doing that unless i try to load a bin or data, is this different from most err4 problems?? or does the err4 only happen just like my box, after transfer and instead of saying GOOD it says Err4?? |
