Multi Be!! HDTV hookup

Hello,

I am planning to hook up 2 or 3 Bev HD receivers and a couple Bev SD receivers and a Viewsat Pro for testing.

Can I hook them all up to one Dish with 2 dual LNB's with a Switch?

or do I need a dish or Half a LNB for each receiver?

I know the HD needs both the 91 and 82 sats and the SD's only need the 91 sat

Re: Multi Be!! HDTV hookup

You just need one dish but you will need a multi switch to split the signal up. Are you looking to connect it to 6 receivers at a time?

Re: Multi Be!! HDTV hookup

Thanks for the reply,

I would like to hook them up at the same time, I know i would have to go with a switch. but which type? there are 2 kinds of switching i do believe. I have been out of the satellite 'world' for a while now and a lot has changed since then

Thanks again

Re: Multi Be!! HDTV hookup

To use more then 4 receivers at a time you will need a powered multi-switch. Google this switch to see what is in your area a Zinwell 4x8 Multi-Switch, it is pretty reasonable priced in my area there are others available but this is just a start. Since you have 2 satellites you need 4 inputs which is what the 4 in the 4x8 stands for. The 8 stands for 8 receivers.

Re: Multi Be!! HDTV hookup

I just got done installing my switch, all the inputs are connected properly but my HD bel Receiver doesn`t see both satellites. Is this switch, the Zinwell 4x8 Multi-Switch not compatible with OEM Bel equipment (my question mark isn`t working)

Or am i missing something É

The zinwell switch was designed to work with legacy equipment. If you are using dp lnbs it probably won't work. You will need to get a dp 4x8 powered switch. If you only intend to use up to 4 receivers, you can use a dp 4x4 switch. Also, if you do have dp lnbs, it would be cheaper to buy legacy lnbs than to buy the switch. Good luck my friend,& let us know how you make out.

Re: Multi Be!! HDTV hookup

Hello,

My switch is the Zinwell 4x8 powered switch, the inputs are 13v, 18v, 13v 22khz and 18v 22khz
I am using standard Dish/DTV dual lnb's one pointed at 91 the other one pointed at 82. One lnb's outputs are hooked up to the 13v / 18v inputs and the other lnb to the 22khz inputs.

I know i can get the same result with two sw44 and two 3x4 switches but i thought this was easier and a nicer install.

Since i haven't been doing much 'testing' and lots change since my last intall i thought i post here to get some opinions.

This switch will work with FTA recievers but since they are kinda down I had to subscribe again

Just looking for suggestions

Re: Multi Be!! HDTV hookup

Another idea, and more expensive one, would be to use DPP44 switches as long as 4 inputs are all you need. You can gang these switches together to get many outputs.
