something wrong with the lnb?
My friend up the road has my old 2700 pansat, he tried to point his dish and managed to get one of two sats.
I have been up there twice trying, same result... just got back from second round. It seems it will only pick up one sat no matter what... yet it is a DP twin lnb same as what I have here.... The box is fine brought it back here and hooked it up and no problem.... possibly bad lnb? any way to test that? |

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
Thanks Spyder,
Assuming you are correct then my trial on site was incorrect. I assumed the same, and tried to put in one of the ones that come with the new boxes.... I installed it with #1 going to 119 and #2 going to 110. It made no difference.... Worse no matter how I aim it it will only pick up 110 not 119 ever. Is it the lnb? |

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
It is more than likely the fact that you need to change the Pansat to TP [2] 12239 V 20.000 on Echo 7/Ku 119W to see the Quality. Everytime you go to the settings for Echo 7/Ku you have to to remember to change the TP. The reason why is you cannot save the TP number, as this is a system area only. You can only temporarily change this number to see the satellite signal.
Also, be sure the dish is skewed properly for your area. Here is a handy little program to reference -> Dish Point Utility The Dish Pro LNB has a built in DiSEqC switch, and the LNB can then have 2 receivers hooked up to it, one receiver line into each port. LNBs rarely go bad. Very, very rarely, I bet it is good. Hope This Helps !!

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
ok and a thousand thanks Woodcreeker, however one question (forgive my ignorance please) I researched on the site, and found where it said aim to 119 using 12239 and on, and even printed your post in duo and had both of us holding it while trying this.....however no 119 even when there was signal it was 110 even on tp 12239 I even checked channels and it IS showing 110 channels as 119, and scanning as such... but no matter what I do and no matter where I aim it goes that way....
Now as a side fact, I was BEFORE , a subsciber to pre paid dn, and I was asked to aim several sats, and always got them on the money in about 5 minutes no matter for both 119, and 110. Not to say I am a pro, but I have aimed 20+ sats to 2 dishes before this, and a few after... now back to a wtf is going on with this.... (at least he can get bloomberg which is on 110 so I have a slight break) |

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
You can take the LNB to your installation and check it that way.
Make sure LNB type is OSC DP, 119W port is 1, 110W port is 2. 119W tp freq is 12239 and 110W is 12224. Most important you have to be sure that 119 is skewed so that it will lock while in 119 antenna settings and not locked on 110. |

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
Most people find Echo 8,10, and now Echo 11 at 110W very easily. The Echo 7 119W satellite is lower, about 3 or 4 elevations, and about 9 degrees to the West. That is just a little bit, and is frustrating to find for many at times. It is there, you will find it. If you check your surroundings, be sure you have a line of sight to it. There could be a tree right where you are aiming. (I have seen this happen way too many times) The tree will be just a little to the right of the dish, as the dish is collecting signals from 2 satellites, the dish is actually not aimed at the actual satellite, but sort of in between.
Now, if you have the right dish, it needs to be skewed properly, so it leans to the left. Let me know the dish type you have, which you haven't done, yet. I am assuming it is a Dish 500. Echo 7 119W will be on DiSEqC port 1, and Echo 8,10 110W will be on DiSEqC Port 2, if you have the right dish there. Since you can find Echo 8,10 on one LNB, you can find Echo 7 119W on the same LNB. Like I said, check your line of sight. Do not give up, that pesky satellite is still up there. Here is a quick sketch of the Clarke Belt for a visual Now notice if you are sighting in a Twin LNB dish. The signal from 119W will bounce to the East LNB, and the signal from 110W will bounce to the West LNB. If you think of the dish as being flat, you will probably figure out what I am talking about here. Sort of like a one rail pool shot. If I knew relatively where your location is, I could help you better. Also, my last thought, does the LNB have Dish Pro or big black DP letters on it ?? This could be a problem as well if it is not. So, be sure it has Dish Pro or DP on it, that could be the major cause for all the grief. Somtimes the dish itself may have Pro on it, but the LNB does not, and it actually is a Legacy Twin LNB. If so, be sure the LNB Type is Dish-Pro in your settings as priestmill is pointing out above, and LNB Freq is 11250 for both in the settings as well.

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
Thanks guys, it is really frustrating..... I have never had this much trouble aiming a dish... going to try again tomorrow...
It is a dish 500 with a DP on the lnb.... there is no obstruction... clear view.... It has driven me to drink... lol.... I wonder if the skew is off or whatnot so I go back climb up on the damn roof and try again..... I am in northern Florida.... I actually am going to talk to someone that has a 33 and a 36" dish for sale tomorrow as well for some other channels on fta....not sure what lnb's he has with them, but gonna go see.... I swear if I try that dish at my friends once more and can not get it there will be a new target for my 357..........and I will just buy him another dish 500 |

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
I went and tried again... I just can not find 119 with that dish, starting to piss me off actually....
What would I need for my own home set up to get galaxy 10-r (123), There is a guy with some 33" dishes and single lnb's that would let them go cheap (a little south of me) If I go grab one will just any lnb work? I can see scanning the sky for 123 will be fun...I have not a clue where it is .... |

Re: something wrong with the lnb?
The lnb for 123 is different than 110 etc. It also takes a little more patience to find.
123'w galaxy 10r = linear LNB , either universal or standard =10750 MHz |
