FTA Guide Wave Frontier Toroidal Dish Setup Instructions T55 T90

Wave Frontier Toroidal Dish Setup Instructions T55 T90

The Wave Frontier Toroidal Dishes
Using the Toroidal formula, Toroidal T55 and T90 are designed to reflect signals twice, once through the main reflector and then through a sub reflector, forming a focal line created by focal points along the bottom of the main reflector, making Toroidal T55 and T90 function as a multi-beam antenna that receives broadcasts and communication satellites at the same time. These dishes require special reversed polarity LNBs.

For anyone wanting to use these, or has one and never quite figured it out, these dishes are nice, as you can achieve many orbital positions with one or both of these dishes. The nice thing is these dishes were too complicated for many to setup and use, so they lost their appeal. That is too bad, but they are available for quite a discount all over the internet right now. The Wave Frontier dishes are very high quality, and offer you a very good signal if setup properly.

They offer you numerous orbital positions, without the channel surfing wait of a motorized system. Wave Frontier Dishes are very appealing to look at. They definately have that high tech look. I would suggest these only for the true tinker's at heart.

T55 will give you roughly 20" of dish coverage, suitable for the Echo and Nimiq circular KU satellites. The T55 can accomodate 8 LNBs, and can cover up to 40 degrees in an arc (60 degrees azimuth)

The T90 gives approximately 38" of dish coverage for the linear satellites. The T90 can accomodate up to 16 LNBs, and can cover up to 40 degrees in an arc (60 degrees azimuth)

FAQs

Can Toroidal receive C band signals?
No.

What is the minimum spacing requirements between two satellites that Toroidal can handle?
We recommend 4.5 degrees satellite spacing for T55 and 3 degrees satellite spacing for T90. Toroidal is designed to minimize the signal interference in 2 degree satellite spacing. However, due to the physical dimension of LNBF itself, we recommend at least 3 degree spacing. One technique though is to capture a weak satellite first with one LNBF (e.g. for example, SatMax5 at 116.8W) and place 2nd LNBF (e.g. for example, DirecTV5 at 119W) right next to it.

Can Toroidal receive 61.5W to 119W?
No. Toroidal can cover 40 degrees in arc. For an example, Toroidal can cover 61W to 101W or 110W to 150W.

Can I use my current LNBF with Toroidal? What is reversed DBS LNBF?
DirecTV, Dish Network and Bell Express Vu use circular signals (all other KU band satellites uses linear signal). For easier understanding and illustration purpose, imagine that your signal comes down as a right-hand circular signal. When this right-hand circular signal hits the reflector, it become a left-hand circular signal. All generic DBS LNBF is to recognize this left-hand circular signal. However, Toroidal uses a second reflectors called sub-reflector. This left-hand circular signal directed to sub-reflector and makes another bounce. It becomes right-hand circular signal. Reversed DBS LNBF is designed to recognize this right-hand circular signal by reversing the voltage circuit inside LNBF in the manufacturing process. Without a proper LNBF, your receiver will not recognize any signal at all.

What about switches and other accessories?
As explained above, Toroidal requires reversed LNBF for Bell Express Vu, DirecTV and Dish Network. However, all other setting requirements (switch, cabling, receiver and subscription) is exactly same as normal parabolic dish provided by these program providers.

Is Toroidal compatible with HDTV signals?
Yes.

Can Toroidal receive DirecTV 110W satellite?
Yes. Since DirecTV 110W satellites uses a different frequency(12.6~12.7Ghz), Toroidal requires a Reversed LNBF specifically designed for DirecTV 110W. [Model: C10R]
