i have dish 500 with y bracket and a single lnb at the right viewing from the back of the dish. i am trying to hit 91 but no luck at all. dishpointer gives me elevation at 42.4, skew at 16.7 degrees and azimuth at 212.7 for my zip at 20707. i wasn't sure if i were to add 90 to the skew or subtract from 90, anyway tried both but no luck at all. i am getting signal in the 80's but the quality never goes up above 7.

How do you have the antenna setup in the menu system on you stb. Q is signal strength.

in the setting lnb power is on, lnb type is single, not using switch so it is off. s is in the 80's as mention above and q is around 7.

What is the lnb freq and what trans are you using to check signal.

you normally would not need to skew a single lnb dish. skewing allows you to put 1 lnb higher or lower than the other in multi-lnb setups.

work with bobo, he will fix you up, likely its a setting or pointing problem.

91W the setting is LNB freq. 11250--> LNB type ocs-dp--> tp freq. 12224.

hi guys the lnb freq = 11250, i changed the lnb type to osc dp from single but no change and as far as the tp freq i don't see the option for that

thanks for your help guys, was using cs 6k just to check for the signal and it doesn't have tp freq option, will try with nfusion i know i can change to different tp freq. will have to do in the morning and post the result. once again i appreciate your help so far

The LNB for Nimiq 1 should be in the left LNB position. Then, if you ever get an LNB for the other side, you might probably have Nimiq 2 sighted in as well. The skew factor you got is probably erronous, and throwing you off. There are two types of skew. Dish skew (skewing the dish) and LNB skew (swiveling the LNB in the case of an LNB mounted in an LNB holder by the neck). This might have thrown you.

Like hazwis said, the skew is not necessary, Nimiq 1 is high in the sky, and probably more towards the south than you think it is. I think maybe your numbers didn't help as you have the LNB on the side, and not in the middle. I bet the numbers you have are for an 18" single LNB dish.

I would try to level the dish, maybe set the skew on the back around 85, have the LNB in the East LNB holder on the Y yoke, aim it around due south, and have your elevation set high, around 45. Move the towards the West slightly, and you should find Nimiq 1 right in there, if you don't see it already.

Oh yeah, just run a line directly to the LNB from the receiver, and have the settings..

hi guys i want to thank you all for your help. i placed the lnb to the left on the y bracket and played with the azimuth, and after a while a got 91. my question now is that my nf won't lock on to the sat. used cs 6k scanned the sat and got channels eventhough scrambled which is not a surprise. i was wondering if some1 can help me with that
