A lot of people are wondering what Globecast is or what GC is.
Globecast is most commonly abbreviated GC. Globecast is mainly a satellite located at 97 degree west (97 W). Today it is known as Galaxy 25. In the very old days it's name was Telstar Five (T5) and later it was renamed Intelsat Americas 5. This satellite broadcasts true FTA channels which are mostly international channels, such as Persian, Arabic, Vietnamese, Chinese, English and in many other languages. You need at least a 30" dish or bigger with a linear LNB to get enough quality to watch this satellite. To get a complete list of all the channels available on this satellite, please visit the LyngSat website, sometime, link is provided below. LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite There are links from there to each channel's websites. All these channels also have sites that are linked from LyngSat, so you can read up on the satellites channels as well before installing dishes to capture the signals. Not to mention, all other satellites available in North America are listed on that site as well. Click on the America link to get the complete satellite listing. This is quite the site to get to know for FTA! Concentrate on the color code GREEN and YELLOW satellites, which is the Ku band FTA receivers pick up. Also, there are Java maps, when, you click on where your location is, this will automatically calculate your elevation and azimuth numbers, roughly, for adjusting a dish to get that satellite. What is needed to find this satellite is a larger dish, 33" (75cm) or larger and a Linear LNB. This depends on where you are. On the fringe areas, which are the East or West coasts or border areas, like the Mexican or Canadian border, you may need larger dishes, say 39" (90cm). The larger dish the better for best results. The LyngSat site belongs in every FTA user's toolkit. Loads and loads of information there!

Re: Globecast Satellites - LyngSat Website
Important Note - Galaxy 19 was moved to 97W and replaced Galaxy 25
Well, since many people don't use this satellite or maybe they don't know that this is the one that transmits GlobeCast. I just want to let anyone interested know that at the end of November 2008 they finished transferring all channels from Galaxy 25 to the new Galaxy 19 satellite now located at 97W. So on some receivers you may have to choose Galaxy 19 to continue using 97W.
