Ladybird.... I think your question about when the NAG3 fix is going to be out might be too simple of a question. I suspect that it might be out soon and it will probably be by Sonicview. But unless you own a Sonicview and have an Ihub it's not going to matter as they will likely only send the needed codes through the Ihub. So maybe the question is, when will the NAG3 be available for a stand alone file. That will be much further down the road! Sonicview won't be given the keys to the Kingdom away!

Sonicview has already implied that they are actively pursuing an N3 crack regardless of the iHub. The only thing that may be different is they could possibly release the crack. Say they only released it over the IKS network. Not actually releasing the N3 fix, just using the crack themselves to decode the channels on their server. Thereby not exposing their work to other coders who would decompile and reimplement it for their own means.

I'm not saying this is what they are going to do but it is certainly in the realm of possibility.

Hard to say, Viewsat said they were still working on N3 about a week ago. Noone really knows what's going on or if this has any effect on what they are doing right now. They said they have had the card dump that they were seeking for a long time and would be making an announcement soon. Whatever "soon" means.

I just got word from the top that there will be no stand alone file for along time now, due to the fact that the big bust on 3 big people. 2 of which is the main coders for sonicview and viewsat.
that leaves them with no coders for now. so iks is the only way to go. and iks is up on everything except for local,Hd, and ppv, because they will not purchace that programming.
But if you like you can get the i-Link and get 119 sat and 110 sat with ppv channels. and porn. or use the nano II with the iLink file to do the same.

Yes sonicview and viewsat are the ones affected, 2 of the guys were coders for sonicview and viewsat. so its going to be awhile.

If you mean programmers are a dime a dozen, maybe. But someone with the experience and knowhow (not to mention equipment) to crack something like N3 wouldn't be so easy to find.

Let me ask you this: If you were to dump the code from a smartcard where would you start? What would you need to do it? I can't answer this, and I don't know too many people that could. Now that's JUST talking about the dump. What do you do with that info from there? How does it function as a device? How can you emulate that? None of these questions have simple answers. It's clear that DN learned a thing or two about the underground hacking industry from N2. They didn't make the same mistake twice.

I'm not saying that N3 will never be cracked I'm just saying you should give the people who do this sort of work the respect they deserve as some of the most elite hackers on the planet. As Nagravision clearly has some very good programmers of their own.
