Let me ask you this: If you were to dump the code from a smartcard where would you start? What would you need to do it? I can't answer this, and I don't know too many people that could. Now that's JUST talking about the dump. What do you do with that info from there? How does it function as a device? How can you emulate that? None of these questions have simple answers. It's clear that DN learned a thing or two about the underground hacking industry from N2. They didn't make the same mistake twice.

I'm not saying that N3 will never be cracked I'm just saying you should give the people who do this sort of work the respect they deserve as some of the most elite hackers on the planet. As Nagravision clearly has some very good programmers of their own.

Beeker, no offense meant to any of the guys working on this or anything else. Hackers have a long history of being more then available and working for the smallest of wages if any. Sounds like these guys get paid for what they do, I appluad them for that!

I have kind of given up hope on this nagra 3 fix... though I continue to log on everyday and check to see if a fix is available, I no longer get dissapointed because I already know what the outcome is. I am getting so sick of not having tv that I think I might subscribe to Direct TV.

Go get an IKS receiver. That way you will have your satellite back. As for the N3 wait.... I think it will be a long one.

It has been a long wait. Never knew that I had the patience.. I have a cw 700s now , but I am getting a new receiver for whatever company comes out with the Nag3 fix first. Hopefully someone will release it soon..

I cannot use a IKS capable receiver even if i had one because there is no high speed internet here, i have to use a verizon laptop card and am limited in megabytes

You know Vlytly, you only use about 10mb tops downloading what you need for IKS. It's minuscule. Also has the speed has very little bearing on it as well. There are people on here running IKS using dial up with no problems.

honestly I think it will be January 26 2009 is when we will get the first stand alone fixes for any box and I think they all will be able to handle them

Poor randomstudsman has been working very hard of late and in most likely very tired Bob, hence his error. Nice to see he had time to check in, but he has to do it by mobile, because of his work circumstances.

When Randomstudman is on the river he works 6 hours on and 6 hours off 24/7. Toward the end of a tow he tends to loose track of what day it is, let alone what year he is in.
