What the abbreviations ECM, Bev, DN and DP stand for

A member asked the question what Bev, DN and dp stand for, so I have started this thread so other members can see the explanation of these and others


BEV = Bell ExpressVu. Canadian DBS provider, uses Echostar equipment

DN = Dish Network

dp = dishpro line of receivers, switches and LNBs that allow for simpler installations

ECM = Electronic Counter-measure. Any of a number of methods the service provider may use to disable pirated smart cards
