I am looking into buying a new reciever which runs by IKS , I was wondering which one has better support or more user friendly, either the k box or the nfusion can someone please give me a suggestion ? and also can anyone tell me about them or the principal on how they receive programs? and how they work ? before I buy one and have to figure it out.

Nfusion Pro : Best IKS system and most stable of all boxes
Nfusion Con: Doesn't take standalone files so when IKS support is done so is your box (except for True FTA)

Kbox Pro: Takes standalone files which is a more stable system than IKS but it goes down more (you'll still have IKS support too fall back on)
Kbox Con: IKS system is new and they don't have the channels or stability of Nfusion yet.

They are both great boxes, you should be happy with either one.

Great question, possibly can someone also give comparisons?

Currently there is (4) brands that i know of Sv,K-box,Nfusion,CNX

how do they perform by the following?

• available channels, does one box have more or better channels then others?
• support?
• ease of setting up?
• rate overall quality of the box vs cost.

I hope this will be ok if i add this to your thread Celica im sure alot of folks would like to know.

To add the other 2:

Sonicview has a ton of channels (as much as Nfusion) but a lot of freezing and server issues at this point. SV dongles are kind of hard to setup so I'll pu t SV at the bottom of the ease of setup category. I paid a lot for my 8000 w/8psk, w/ihub but I still feel like I've got my money's worth.

CNX doesn't have that many channels and their server is down more than it is up (from what I hear). In all the other categories they are a good box though.

I also hear that KBox has a much better picture then Nfusion but I don't know where they sit in comparison to Sonicview.

Sonicview = Best picture (Hands down). I don't want to crap on anyone's box but I've heard the Nfusion's picture isn't the best (in comparison). I haven't heard anyone talking about picture quality on the other 2 too much.

Yes it is! SV didn't have it (they had 100 though). I don't think Nfusion did. That's a HUGE plus for Kbox.

Nfusion has the most channels and seem to be the king of IKS. But the Kbox has a superior picture quality on some TVs.

The differences are the Nfusion has VOD and Kbox has the most Internationals. Kbox has the Better PVR and remote, but the Nfusion Solaris is cheaper. Not by much. They both are a great receivers with los of channels, So you can not go wrong with ether.

It is only a matter of time before Kbox get the VOD and Nfusion has more Internationals.

Nfusion has had a Standalone file in the past(nova), Unsure if the newer models ever will.

I can't help but think we're being played.As soon as everyone loads up with khub,ihub or nfusion the stand alone n3 fix will be released,is this not away to sell us suckers a crap load of equipment which in a few months will be garbage.

Not entirely true. Even after the N3 fix comes out the IKS system will still be running. Therefore the IKS boxes won't get hit with ECM's as much as a standalone only box.

K box K box K box has the best picture so do Sonicview,I don't know about Nfusion cause I never tested one.You cannot go wrong with either.

I've got sv,kbox, cnx & nfusion...nfusion and kbox are the best for now. Kbox does have a better picture but for now nfusion has more channels. Both are easy setups also compared to the sv with the ihub.

As long as we're here talking about STBs I'll throw in my two cents worth. I have Nfusion NV HD. It is a great box and I wouldn't want to part with it. I can say with certainty that the 1080 ATSC broadcasts are clearer and brighter that 1080 broadcasts from Satellite. I don't know how it compares to other boxes but I know it has one peculiar quirk.

On 1080 Satellite broadcasts... it actually says 1088 on this box. This is apparently not a problem for the TV via HDMI or Component cable. But try to record the video from either the RCA or the S-Video and it will not sync horizontally.

No problem recording SD from Sat or HD from ATSC but can't record HD from Sat. This has been my experience. If anyone else has had this problem and resolved it let me know.

Oh... sorry. Should have been more clear. I'm talking about recording to a stand-alone DVD recorder connected to the STB outputs.

Interesting about the recording issues. I am waiting until hockey season to see who has Centre Ice and then will buy an HD receiver, but if it can't record HD then maybe I will have to think twice about it.

I was hoping someone else would chime in on this. I know there are plenty of Nfusion NV HD users out there.
