BEST ANTI-VIRUS? ALL MEMBERS PLEASE PARTICIPATE AND GIVE US YOUR OPINION

Which one from this list do you use/recommend? I have tried the trial version of Kasperskys and thought it very good, but I was irritated by the amount of times it interrupted you. Their back up forum was useless. So I checked this out for the latest reports on all the others, so many sites recommend different ones as being the No. 1. I am going to be the tester on the top few that you guys recommend. Then I will work with Spyder if he has time, and make a poll so all members can vote on which is the best, in their opinion/experience.

Your comments would be welcome. Please participate and post, but please give an explanation why you stopped using 1 or why you are using 1 and are happy with it. I think this will be very good for all of our members.

AVK looks to be the best according to this report, but I have never heard of that one before??? I wonder why they changed from Kasperskys scan engines to BitDefender scan engines in 2009. Some sites say BitDefender is better that Kasperskys, any thoughts on this?

Ladybbird, I used to use bit defender & it is a good one,I found it to be a bit annoying
at times & switched to F-Secure about 2yrs ago & have had no issues at all,in fact I have it on all 3 computers,I am no expert but I would say that they are all pretty good
just some are less annoying.

i have noton 2009 and it is great but i also use spybot search & destroy as a back up

I used AVG for many years until it allowed itself to be shut off with something that came in through Yahoo Messenger. I have to suffer with dialup so updating AVG was always a necessary pain.

I switched to AVAST. It appears to protect against attacks from all sources. Downloading updates is a breeze and it doesn't hog computer resources to do it. The biggest problem with AVAST is that you will get virus alerts if you are using any keygens software or software to create software cracks. You can change the settings to avoid the problems but the changes are not intuitive. Still, until I find a better one, I will stick with AVAST

I totally agree with you Oscar, I have found so far, Kaspersky was very good but annoying. I have had McAfee now for 2 days and find that also annoying and some of the reports I have read that it slows down your computer is also true. So that is going today. Can you give us a further more complex report on why you decided to stay with F-Secure please, I think this will be very good for our members.

I am not that tech savy as to be real complex with an explanation but I have found
F-Secure to be very user freindly compared to some of the others.No matter what anti virus you use there is no gaurantee you will not get a virus but I have been able to get good support from F-Secure when I've needed it. Hope this helps...

Have been using AVG free version for several years now with Sygate personal firewall.
The important thing here is to update everyday to help maximize your protection from viruses, spyware and firmware.

I don't think AVG is bulletproof as I have ran Kaspersky and it did find stuff AVG did not but overall find it to be a good anti-virus program.

AVAST sounds pretty good and may consider giving it a try in the near future.

Yes it does help, as I had problems with my new Skype phone system and Kasperskys support site didnt even answer my query. Thanks Oscar.

Yes Kasperskys did a good clean up and got rid of the virus AVG let in. I would like to know more about AVAST and AVK, I have never heard of that one, but it had the highest points in the survery. Anyone have it or know anything about it? Why did you decide not to stick with Kasperskys?
What is Sygate personal firewall? is it better than Mozilla firefox?

I'm running AVG with Spybot. Been using this for 3 years & am very happy with this combination. Had norton & mcafee & they are both alright, but I feel what I'm using now better suits my needs.
