FTA Question Help: Signal keeps dropping

My buddy has a poor man's dish using old directv 18 inch with 2 dual lnbs receiving 110 and 119. He had 2 computers set up with mytheatre everything worked great. He just got a viewsat vs pro took one computer off line hooked up viewsat. Now when he uses viewsat with computer running in other setup, computer will keep dropping signal. They are on 2 diffrent diseq switches.
If viewsat is off computer with mytheatre does not drop signal works fine. What can cause this and what can he do to fix it? Eveything is the same except changing viewsat for one of the computers... thank u

Re: Help: Signal keeps dropping

Sorry we missed this one. I assume that he has each connected directly to the lnb's and isn't trying to split the signal. The only thing I can think of right now is maybe the cables aren't grounding properly.

Re: Help: Signal keeps dropping

Right, grounding the dish and cables are essential here. ALso, be sure the settings are right on the Viewsat, sounds like the LNBs should be LNB Type: Standard, LNB Freq: 11250.

no splitting there are two seperate diseq switches.... when he tries to do standard lnb does not get all the channells in scan has setting on legacy 11250 setting... i think your right could be grounding issue... does grounding also effect signal i thought it was just for protection from lightening strikes? is there a good tutorial for grounding i can send him? thank u

Re: Help: Signal keeps dropping

The link below will point you to a couple of stickies about grounding. Grounding can affect how a switch works as well.
