Re: cannot get any quality with correct aiming on dish

Re: cannot get any quality with correct aiming on dish
First thing is you need to do a Factory Default with the remote.
Menu -> System Information -> Factory Default -> 0000 -> Ok This will not effect the new bin file installed. If your LNB has Dish Pro on it, or big black DP letters on it, your only need to run one cable to one port on the LNB to the port labeled 13v/18v on back of the receiver. You can disconnect the DiSEqC switch if you hooked it up. The Dish Pro LNB has a DiSEqC switch built into it. You can also run another receiver, so that is 2 receivers off a Dish Pro Twin LNB. Your settings should then look like this... Echo 7 119W LNB Power: On LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: Off TP: 12239 <-- Change this to see Quality DiSEqC: Port 1 Motor: Off Legacy SW: None You should see the satellite name Echo 7 119W appear at the top. If not, your dish is not aligned correctly. Echo 10,11 110W LNB Power: On LNB Type: OCS-DP LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: Off TP: 12224 DiSEqC: Port 2 Motor: Off Legacy SW: None Same here, the Echo 10,11 110W should pop up for you here. Fllow this for the best scanning instructions -> Viewsat Ultra VS-2000 Perfect Scan Method For DishPro and DishProPlus LNBs It was written for an Ultra, but will work fine for the Ultra Lite. After the scans, exit out and wait for 5 minutes to let the keys update, and enjoy! Good Luck !!

Re: cannot get any quality with correct aiming on dish
Did you install this dish yourself ??
Also, you still did not tell me if it is a Dish Pro Twin. The S meter is just the connection strength between the receiver and LNB. 65 is rather low, it should be much higher, like in the 80s. You may want to check your connectors. I would try to get a better quality cable, RG6 is at least, I recommend quad-shielded cable. Or you could also try to shorten the distance between the LNB and receiver. Long cable runs can also cause this low S meter reading. How long is the cable run ??

Re: cannot get any quality with correct aiming on dish
the cable run is about 90-120 ft if I had to estimate the dish was installed by an amateur however they used the site previously mentioned and double checked all the settings on the dish for the exact location the dish sits at. the mast the dish sits on is plumb and level on all sides however the lnb just says dish network on it it does not say Dish pro at all and it also has 2 connectors on one side of the lnb and a single on the other that says lnb in it was advised not to use the connector that says lnb in so it was not used one of the other 2 are if you look at the jpeg attached to this file the connector being used is circled in red
also the cable that is being used is from a very recent direct tv installation and runs directly from the lnb to the viewsat ultra lite PS thank you for all the help |

Re: cannot get any quality with correct aiming on dish
Okay, sorry I was away. What you have there is a Dish Pro Plus LNB in the picture. See where it says DPPlus. The settings I gave you will work, if that is the LNB you have. Double check the setings I gave you (all of them). Also, I hope you did the Factory Default I suggested for you to do.
However, it seems funny the S meter is reading so low. The cable length is a little long, but you should still have a higher S meter reading. The only thing I can think of is the cable is of a lower grade. I would say one of the connectors may not be good on the cable. Maybe move the cable to the other output right next to the port you show in red. Be sure it is somewhat tight. Both of the 2 ports next to each other on the LNB will each run one receiver. The lone port on the other side is for an LNB IN. Try to look for printing on the cable itself somewhere inside. I would have to bet the dish is not aligned properly. Setting it up with a compass and a plumb mast will get you close, but then I bet the dish has to be subtly adjusted until you see signal on the Quality meter. That would also explain a low S meter.

Re: cannot get any quality with correct aiming on dish
The LNB in question might very well be a Legacy Twin LNB.
Since you stated it said Dish Network on the back of the LNB. I thought maybe you took a cell phone pic of yours. If you cannot find Dish Pro or DP letters on yours, it is a Legacy Twin LNB. Try these settings... Echo 7 119W LNB Power: On LNB Type: Standard LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: Off TP: 12239 DiSEqC: None Motor: Off Legacy SW: None Echo 8 110W LNB Power: On LNB Type: Standard LNB Freq: 11250 22KHz: On <-- The difference TP: 12224 DiSEqC: None Motor: Off Legacy SW: None See if a satellite name appears at the top, as well as higher Signal and Quality on the meters.
