FTA Question Help with motorized dish instalation please

Hi all and Happy New Year,

Could anyone please direct me to a url/link where I can find detailed information about motorized satellite dishes.

I would like to install a motorized dish system that would work with a
"coolsat 6000 pro".

Many thanks,
Mangoman.

Re: Help with motorized dish instalation please

All FTA receivers have the ability to control dish motors.

You need a good long east and west vantage point for line of sight up to the satellites. All the satellites orbit in an ellitical arc.

You can see that in this post: Satellite Orbital Positions

A motor will swing the dish along this arc, called the Clarke Belt. The Clarke Belt was named after Arthur C. Clarke, the science fiction writer. He actually was the first to visualize that the communication satellites would have to orbit the earth along an arc.

Here is a good guide: Motor Installation Guide

That guide pretty much says it all about motors and dishes.

Hope this helped a little to explain the concept!
