I hope this will clear up any uncertainty on which channels maybe used for best EPG population.

Note: Remember to add 1000 to the ExpressVu channel number if you use BEV channel renumbering.

do you just let it sit on this for a period of time to populate epg?

Yes let it sit on one of these channels for a couple of minutes. Best to do a hard boot and then leave it on one of these channels and make sure time zone is set properly in the menu system. I.E. -5 hrs.

what if this doesnt work? About half works on my epg on 119 and its been up for 2 days

epg stands for electronic programming guide. This is the guide that shows you what programs are on which channels.

sometimes the guide does not populate and you can put it on the recommended channel to recieve the guide quicker.

Two things:

1. I have a SV-8000 HD with the adaptor for HD. I put the machine on the channel(s) you suggested - did a hard boot - returned it to the channels(s) you suggested, and nothing notable happened.

2. there is a function on this machine called "scan DTV EPG." When I utiliz this function nothing seems to happen - that is, it goes through what appears to be a scan but at the end nothing noticable happens. Is this function for the purpose of populating the EPG or something else? and... should I hard boot after this so called scan?
