dishpro plus signal strenght
I have 2 dish 500's w/dp w/129 feeding dp plus w/119/110 signal coming into vs ultralite sat 129 comes in signal 72 Q=59 // 110 is 62 strength Q=50 // sat 119 s=61 Q=60 all comes in, channels are slow and says searching for signal for 10 seconds. The dp plus really knocks down my signal power. I have used a dpro in place of dp plus and the signal for 110&119 are 85&90. All this done in prep for 9000hd to replace vsul .. I have read here that the 8psk knocks the signal even lower. What can I do to get max signal is there an in line signal booster , an inline powered switch, or is this dp plus defective// sorry to be a pain but we are trying very hard//and read everthing

Re: dishpro plus signal strenght
Have you installed the dishes yourself ?
A better grade of cable and a shorter run of cable can give you a 10 to 20 Signal meter (S meter) boost depending on your circumstances. Also, grounding the dishes to a good basement house ground can also give you a few more points of signal stregth. Every little bit helps. The Quality sounds low, and tweaking the dish subtly will probably bring that up. A good trick to use is run a TV and the receiver out to the dish, and move the dish without loosening anything. You can slightly raise it, or go to the left to find out which way the dish should be moved. Then, you can loosen it and retighten it there. I would try to get the highest signal possible on Echo 7. When you scan for channels, the signal should be much hiher when you are viewing channels than when you sighted the dishes in. And, to answer your main question, Radio Shack makes a cable TV amplifier to help out with a weak signal. Some members here have commented that it works great for their Viewsat 9000HD receivers. Hope This Helps !!
