Re: help ONLY 211 channels ,i did something wrong?
We need to know which dish type you have. Check the dish for any printing on it. Also, check the LNB for printing. LNBs are called the "eyes".
Let us know. We can help.

Re: help ONLY 211 channels ,i did something wrong?
There are a lot of rude people on forums these days. Generally, they are rude because they do not have an answer for you. They lack experience with this equipment.
The problem with Phase III dishes is they are only good for one satellite. Think of it as an 18" dish. The extra LNBs on them are oddballs. They can only get certain frequencies from the other 2 satellites, like radio stations and a few other channels. Also, the switches are incompatible with FTA receivers. Now, you could modify them, and make a Dish 500 out of them. This would require getting 2 LNBs, and cutting the arm and doing some other metalurgy. Then, again, it will only get 2 orbital positions after all that. I would suggest getting either a Dish 500 for the Echo satellites, or getting a couple other 18" dishes. You can get two Legacy LNBs for the Dish 500, and wire them together with the Phase III sighted in for BEV. The best setup is to achieve 110W 119W and 91W for most receivers. Hope This Helps !!

So let me make shure i understand this. Basicaly the channels im missing are due to the fact that they are located on another sat that i cant get to because of my STOCK direct tv installed dish and lnb setup, now you sugest that i find a dish 500 setup with two legacy lnbs in order to get the full ppv and extras line up that im currently looking for .... well with this in mind , i plan to take this beyond just dish net and bev ,what dish / lnb set up would you recomend for an aspiring fta hobbiest that doesnt that will do what i need it to do and brake the bank of a newbie

Re: help ONLY 211 channels ,i did something wrong?
I would suggest you to get an Elliptical dish 18"x24" and four circular LNB,that way you will get both DN and B3V (119w,110w,91w and 82w).

Re: help ONLY 211 channels ,i did something wrong?
There are a few of us here (considered to be heretical & 'Commienists' by Woodcreeker) who swear by big mutha dishes with QPH-31 LNB & motors to sweep the Clark Belt. Cons are ssllooww satellite changes (motor moves dish approx. 2 degrees per second). If you aren't troubled with obsessive-compulsive disorder, this should be of negligible import. The one BIG pro is access to a totally FTA sat. at 123 azimuth position which carries FOX programmin' all the time along with other dated programmin'. So the ol' lady & kids don't mutiny when ECMs take out the 'Majors". Each to his own, but this IS an alternative!

DTV Slimline Converted.
Well it took me almost a week to set-up this DTV Slimline and with the help of many friends I completed this project and have no regrets. I replaced my Dish Plus with the LBNB’s of my DN 1000.2 and at this point I signed up for nothing but trouble but to late to turn back, I had too continue. I had three major problems with this project that I could not over come them with out the help ofgood friends that made this all possible to get it all working... Right. Ok, now to the major problems with the Slimline... 1. I had to cut 4 inches off the Slimline arm to mount the 3-pack LNB’s from the DN 1000.2 and that seem to work, just slipped on the arm and set to the right angel of the dish. PROBLEM: The 3-pack LNB if you look at it the LNB’s a straight across and when I tried to dial it in I would loose 129 because of the offset of the LNB on 129. If I dialed 129 in I would loose 110 and all this was the 3-pack LNB. PROBLEM RESOLVED: So I had to think of another way to do this, so i used one of my life lines and call a friend of mine and got a new yoke and 3 single DP-LNB’s to try. No modifications were made to accept the new yoke and installing the 3 signal DP-LNB’s was quite easy. Now I could dial in 110/129 with no signal/quality loss and this is what I was looking for.. Good Quality/Signal for HD... 2. I went out a got myself a DPP44 with the power inserter to control the 5 Satellites I have set-up. This is now becoming so complexed but I was assured this will all work.... Not True. PROBLEM: I was faced with the fact I had 5 Satellites and only 4 ports to work with, so I had to use a SW21 switch to get the 5th Satellite up. I took 129 and connected it to port 3. I took 110 and connected it to port 2. I took 119 and connected it to port 1. So I was left with 82/91 and I put them to port 4. Wrong... I could not get 82/91 to switch on port 4. I would only get 91 on both sides of the SW21 Switch. PROBLEM RESOLVED: This is how I corrected the problem. I had the SW21 Switch on the outside of the DPP44 on port 4, and this refused to work that way. So I moved the the SW21 Switch inside at the power inserter and connected 91 to port 2 of the SW21 Switch and ran 82 to the DPP44 port 4. POWER INSERTER: • From the DPP44 POWER PORT Switch to the INPUT of the power Inserter. • From the POWER INSERTER to Receiver connected to PORT 2 of the SW21 Switch. • From Satellite 91 connected to PORT 1of the SW21 Switch. • From the SW21 Switch OUTPUT to the RECEIVER. 3. I used the Dish Plus I replaced with the Slimline with and DP Duel LNB’s on 82/91, I had removed a Dish Pro 500 with 2 single LNB’s. Not a good move.. I could never pull in 82 on the damm thing so my thinking was the Dish Surface Area was too extreme for the 2 single LNB’s. Same thing with DP-Plus LNB’s no 82. PROBLEM: As I had mentioned the surface area & curvature was to large for 82/91 and 91 being the strongest signal with this dish. For days i mucked with this problem and I kept running into the some thing, 91 only no 82 would pop-up. So after trying many combinations I could only pull in 91.. So in frustration I decided to put back the DP 500 Dish with the 2 single LNB’s I original had with the DN 1000.2 set-up and it all worked with the set-up I had with the SW21 Switch and DPP44 Switch. PROBLEM RESOLVED: Now I had the DP 500 with 2 single 82/91 LNB’s and I got everything to work in harmony as it should. Using the DP 500 for 82/91 was the answer to the problem I was faced with, and got everything to work with the DPP44/Slimline/DP 500/SW21 Switch. It was good for me to be able to work out these problems so I am glade in one sense I spent the time and worked it out with good friends at my side... Conclusion: It is true that you can use a DTV Slimline Dish and make it work with DN for great HD signal/quality as I have. I have posted the pictures of the dishes and LNB’s. Hope this helps someone... -whitefish |

Re: help ONLY 211 channels ,i did something wrong?
So if i were to use a 36" geosat with a motor what type of lnb should i get and would the geosat be a sound purchase or will it not work for bev and dishnet and only work for other sats or should i just run the dtv and the geo sat with a 4-1 switch i realy dont want to hack a dish apart and re wire lnbs and d*ck around with the problems that i might face with making a dish. i do have the knowledge but im limited on amount of time in a day im a motorcycle tech and work 12 hours a day im kind of tired and limited on the amount of patients i have by the time i get home or should i just find a big "mutha" of a dish i do want to expand my fta ing in the future or is the 36" geosat sufficient for the time being
