Nfusion HD Locked Up - reboot help needed
Hello everyone,
I turned on my Nfusion HD the other day and it will go through a start up process but won't let me do anything on it. When I turn it on using the power switch on the back I will see the blue light come on (on the front of the unit) followed by the power icon then after about 10 seconds I will see 20000 displayed on the front of the unit. On screen display on the tv will show "please wait" then I will see 03208 on the front display of the unit then MC1 will be displayed on the unit with the on screen tv display as "No (or bad) signal!". Using the remote will not do anything - no responce what so ever. Front panel buttons do not work at all - no responce what so ever. We did have some thunderstorms go through here but nothing else has been effected on the same outlet the unit is plugged into. I'm wondering if there is a way to do some kind of reboot or is this unit now a toaster? I even tried to use the usb drive with the latest bin file hoping it would do a reboot. All that happend was that it showed that the usb was being used on the front panel. The light on the usb thumb drive came on showing it was being accessed but nothing happened. I can't even use the LAN cable to get into the machine. Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks |

You can force load the latest bin using a serial cable or usb to serial adapter (RS232). This usually solves this sort of problem on any receiver.

Thanks beekermc I will give that a try today and see what happens. It may be just a glitch but this has never happened before.

Re: Nfusion HD Locked Up - reboot help needed
Well I guess this unit is pooched because I can't load using the serial cable. I keep getting the error message E-to. It won't accept any files doing it this way.

Re: Nfusion HD Locked Up - reboot help needed
Sorry Willy I'm not a Nfusion owner so there's only so much I can help. I'll have a look around and if I find anything I'll post here. Also, if anyone else here can help I'm sure they will chime in.

Re: Nfusion HD Locked Up - reboot help needed
Willy Boy,
I have a Nfusion NV HD but have never had a problem that couldn't be fixed with new software. Your problem sounds a bit more serious but it may be possible to troubleshoot. Try these steps. It may help isolate the problem. It sounds like you've already tried most basic steps. 1. Disconnect everything and remove the HD card. Reconnect one source for signal... either ATSC or SAT. Even a rabbit ears type antenna can serve as ATSC if there is at least one station you can pick up. If the box will boot at this point then the culprit is most likely the removed card. If it doesn't boot then try loading any bin file via serial cable one more time. If then it still doesn't work you may have to scrap it. Good luck |

That sounds like good advice. I will try that today and see what happens. It's not working the way it is so I'm up for anything that may help. I believe it may have gotten a static charge with all the thunderstorms we have had here lately. My other devices are fine but this one seems to have taken a hit. I will remove the 8PSK card and see what happens. Seems to not be completely dead as it tries to boot by looking at the front display. You can even hear the fan come on after the initial start-up then it just seems to freeze. A real shame because I just love this product...until this happened. |

Re: Nfusion HD Locked Up - reboot help needed
Well after many tries it seems this unit is not going to reboot or let me load new files at all. Too bad as it was a great unit. Back to my old Nfusion Nova for now I guess. Save some pennies and start over again with a better surge protector or ups device. Live and learn.

Re: Nfusion HD Locked Up - reboot help needed
To force load a file on any stb , it is a timing thing. What you do to force load a file is turn off the unit on the back. Turn it back on, & at first light on the front hit the load file on your puter. Like I said, this is a timing thing, so it may take several tries.
