*searched* tivo install help on 3500SD please!

Howdy everyone! I'm new to the whole satellite FTA stuff and have a setup (as of today) ready to watch TV when the next 3500SD fix comes out (because it's down right now ). I am having a tough time understanding one thing though, and that's setting up my tivo to work with my receiver! Here's what I did so far:

1. Installed dish and receiver
2. Setup satellites (I think I did it right?)
3. Satellite Scanned (do I still need to blind scan?)
4. Hooked up RGB VGA connections to Video 5 on TV, then RYW on receiver to tivo, then tivo RYW output to Video 1 on TV
5. Tried to setup tivo switching channels on the 3500SD with IR cables
6. Had no luck building a channel database (obviously) on the tivo
7. What to do???

So yeah, I'm pretty much totally lost I guess when it comes to setting up the tivo with my 3500SD. It came pre-loaded with B-80 v6 and I updated the bin to the newest one with tivo support, but I'm still lost lol!

Why can't my tivo change channels on my 3500SD? Did I do something wrong? Thanks a ton!

Hallo RD and welcome to the site. Im not too sure about your problem, I have had a look around and found this, I hope it helps, come back and let us know how you get on.

Nope, didn't help but thanks for at least trying! I haven't looked at that tutorial yet, but I did do the others.

Maybe everything (minus the tivo part) is fine and I just have to wait until the next bin (as it's shut down right now) release. I guess it's hard to tune satellite stuff when there's no TV going lol!

Patience is a virtue But I'm still trying to figure out the tivo changing my 3500SD's channels thing! lol is there a tut for that somewhere?

Thanks! My bro-in-law (the one who told me about FTA) came over and helped me setup everything properly, I had it all messed up. So yay, I'm in business and getting great satellite with a tivo connection!

The only thing is man, I keep having my signal drop from 90% to 0% like every minute, is that a common problem with anyone else?
