Are you using the right cable which they told you to buy.

Is there any communication between receiver and Loader when you are downloading or no progress at all?

Also what step are you using to download the file?

I used the null modem cable hooked up recieved to computer opened the loader and selected the file, there is no progress at all.

First turn the receiver OFF from the back,now connect the null cable to the computer,open the loader,select the file then hit Start or Download then turn the receiver ON from the back and see if there is any progress.

is there a specific loader for Pansat 3500Sd? If so, where could I find it? That and the factory file. Thankyou so much!!!

Try changing the Loader to COM3

Then try to load the factory file.

You should be loading this factory file v06 --> New Factory File Pansat 3500SD 3500S 3500 B-80 B80 v06

If that works out okay, write down your antenna settings if you do not know them.
Menu -> Factory Setting -> 0000 (four zeros) -> Ok
Resetup satellites and Blind Scan for channels.

Notice the USB To Serial 9 pin end looks like the back of the receiver, so you will need the null modem cable to go in between them.

What are you using ???

I connect one end of the null cable to the receiver and the other end to the port on the laptop. Do I need the serial adapter?

Thanks for that info. Those links helped me as well. It looks to me like updating the "factory file" is equivalent to updating the firmware. My 3500SD came with a serial null cable and it connected as advertised. Still having intermittent problems with the current fix for DN as many channels are still scrambled.

If you are using the USB to Rs232 then I guess you need it but if you are using the Rs232 to Rs232 then I think you don't need it.

If you are not having luck on your Laptop then try it on your friend Computer.

I bought the USB to serial port adapter hooked it up with the null cable modem, on another computer, installed the drivers, I hooked it up and clicked download, and it says: "Downloading.. 0%" its been that way for 5 minutes. What do you guys suggest?

Turn your receiver off then back on. It should start.

it will only let me select COM 3, and when i tried on another laptop i was able to select COM 1.. it still doesnt work.
