my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
So, yesterday, my machine froze up and i turned it off from the back. I turned the machine back on and it says : " B - 80 " , and just stays there. I unplugged the machine, and everything, nothing works. Does anyone know what to do? If you could please help me, as soon as possible, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!! |

Hello and welcome. Loading the factory file using the serial cable and loader program might just cure this problem.

What make and model receiver do you have exactly? I moved your post so I just want to make sure.

Re: my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
If you've pressed the stb button on your remote and it still won't give you access to the menu system on the receiver then you can use the factory file from the link below.
New Factory File Pansat 3500SD 3500S 3500 B-80 B80 v06 And the link below will get you the loader program. Pansat 3500Ss 3500S 3500 GTRom Loader v35.01 |

Re: my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
i tried using the STB button on the remote and nothing worked.
The tv screen is blank, and the LCD showed B-80, usually after it shows this, it is supposed to show, ON.. but that didnt happen. But i will try this loader and factory file. Thank you so much, once again. Ill let you know if it worked, once i find the cables! |

Re: my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
Please let us know how it goes. P.S. you will still need a new file but pansat hasn't released one, but in the meantime you can work on bringing the receiver back to life.

Re: my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
Best Buy should have one. It's a pretty common cable (a little more common a few years ago).
It's called a USB to RS-232 conversion cable. You'll probably need a null serial cable too (probably the cable you already have) as I think the 3500 uses null and the converter is straight through. At least this is what I use for my ps2700. |

Re: my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
They're called usb to serial adapters. If you're using XP you shouldn't have any issues, if your using Vista make sure the adapter supports Vista. Another tip is make sure you load the drivers for the adapter before you plug it into your computer.

Re: my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
The adapter should come with a disk that tells your computer how to use your new equipment, they are called drivers.

Re: my receiver is stuck saying "B-80".. PLEASE HELP!
Every hardware device has a driver. This is a program designed to interact between the operating system and a device. In this case the driver program would tell the operating system how to translate the data over the particular serial port device to the receiver. When you install any new hardware item, the computer will ask for a driver. The operating system detects new hardware being connected. Or the operating system could go out to the internet and find the correct driver for your device. It is necessary to use the correct driver for every device.
Anyway, another thing you may not have considered is getting an actual RS-232 serial port card for a computer. This is also sometimes called a 9 pin port. Having a real serial port is better than an emulated one, which the USB To Serial Port Adapter cable is. So, you may want to get one of these first. And, yes, this I/O card will also need a driver, but the operating system probably has the correct driver for these devices. You will also need a Null Modem cable to connect the receiver. A regular straight wired serial cable will not work. So, be sure you are using the proper cable as well. Hope This Helps !!
