help with the ancient megasat yt6688
hi guys!
I hope you can help me out with some info. I got some equipment from my friend - 121 superdish and MegaSat YT6688 receiver. I mounted the dish and aimed it at 110W,119W and now I can see the free channels. MegaSat YT6688 as far as I know is a clone of PanSat 2500a. The system info is X-85BL API :2.77Ta_EU Boot ver : 6.0 10 june 2006 Tivo-RTN-TVE So I'm trying to figure out what I can do with it at this point. I read around in this section, so it looks like I need to convert it to 2700 and get the latest bin for 2700. But all the responses to the situation like I have are also dated in 2007, so I'm not sure how relevant they are and I don't want to brick it. Can someone help me out and tell me the steps I need to do? Thanks a lot for your help! |

Re: help with the ancient megasat yt6688
You won't make a doorstop out of it by trying. If it can be converted to a 2700, you will need to create a new file on your desktop. You will need to download the blacklist 1.4 loader. Use the loader to load the latest file to the stb. Keep in mind you will need to puff the stb first, in order to load the latest file.

Staso, the first thing you will need to do is reply to the E-Mail that AAAFTA sent you to complete your registration, then you will have access to all the files you need...

Thanks for the info. I'm a bit confused about converting procedure. there is one procedure described in PanSat2500 help subforum that mentions PUFF: "New Pansat PUFF 2500 to 2700 Conversion Guide Information" New Pansat PUFF 2500 to 2700 Conversion Guide Information, but this one is rather generic description of the process. The procedure that is a lot more detailed (referenced in "Converting Pansat 2500 Into A Pansat 2700 - Information Guide" Converting Pansat 2500 Into A Pansat 2700 - Information Guide and " Pansat 2500 Into Pansat 2700 Bin Conversion - No JTAG - Easy" Pansat 2500 Into Pansat 2700 Bin Conversion - No JTAG - Easy) doesn't have any mentioning of PUFF - so I'm not sure if that's the one I need to use. I guess I will deal with upgrade to the latest bin after I'm done with conversion - at this point I want to make sure I do the conversion right. thanks again for your help! |

Staso, Like I said I don't know anything about your reciever, so you might want to hold off until a Guru comes online to confirm if this will work or not..

Roswell, I followed the steps you provided and it went thru without a hitch. I didn't have a chance to try it out yet, but at least all the steps succeeded. So thanks for your help! |
