About The Nagra3 Nag3 N3 Switch To The New Encryption
I read this post on another site and thought is was a great one to add to.
Thanks to gigster for the concept, who is still a member here. He is a now a Moderator on another site. About The Nag3, Nagra3, N3 change over switch. The big N3 change... What to do and What not to do... Except for the old school FTAers here, most of you have never seen a Nagra encryption change. There is no need to keep posting... I lost channels, how do I get them back?, etc. We all know the providers are switching to the new Nag3 encryption. You will lose more and more channels until they are all gone. You will get scrambled channels, sound, maybe, but no video, etc. All this is to be expected during a changeover, there is nothing you can do about it except making sure the actual channel you lost is not on your end. Simply ask, someone will confirm it for you. As time goes on, rumors will surface like you have never seen before. You will also see many, many scams if you go in search of files. Examples: abc site has the fix already, but we are going to have to charge you a small fee to join. N3 was hacked by monkey in China, he has the hack for sale, we need money to pay him for this and more fixes. monkey has the only private site with the fix right now, only $499.98 to join... We are working on a fix, and it is almost done, so join here today. We almost have the fix, we just need to tweak it, but ran out of money to pay the coders... Very Exclusive Private site, fix will be released soon, as early as next week... abc site has just bought the fix, sign up today... abc site cannot afford to pay for the fix, we need money to get it... Your receiver won't work for N3, buy this one, it will... Keys will work, join here for the secret keys... My Friend's, Uncle's, Sisters, Cousin now has the fix, all channels wide open... (This one is a true one, I remember reading this one in particular) I think you all catch the drift... Granted, the files they will provide you with will work, for True FTA. We all know that those files will work as designed, for True FTA satellites. If you read around your receiver help sections, you all know where to get these files for free from the home site. Keep all your old receivers, we don't know what will work and what won't work at this time. If you really have to have a new unit for some reason, buy an inexpensive cheaper $100 one until this is over and files and all information is known... The Moderators, some Site Helpers and a few Senior Members here have been through some of these changes, such as from the F card to N1, N1 to N2 and now going through N2 to N3. We know where to look for bin files and find all pertaining information. We have enough experience to know fact from rumors and scams. You all knew this was coming, you should always have a TV back up source. Please, try NOT to pester the staff through Private Messages or numerous Threads, and that will free them up to do their tasks here better, and everything will be best for all. All we can do now is ride it out and watch for the latest developments. Personally, I do not think the wait will be for very long.  Thank you all for your understanding and patience during this time !!

Thanks Woodcreeker you're right that was very well put. I've seen way too many people fall victim to the promise of a fix, and when they join and complain about not getting the fix they get banned and are out sometimes several hundred dollars, and they can't do a thing about it.

nag3 as already been cracked in england where i come from ...for some time now so its just a matter off time for it to happen here ...till that happens i just break out the vhs to kill the time

Correct me if I am wrong, but I would think that if you have any of the PC based boxes like CW3000HD or the CW4000HD these boxes will have the horsepower to keep up with NAG3.
I almost bought a CW4000HD but I am going to hold off just in case ... Dusting off my dvd's, hooking cable back up, and putting up an OTA antenna, just to be sure ...

With the standard boxes, the coders are limited to the fixed memory and slower embedded cpu's with the PC hardware based boxes for example the CW4000 HD , it comes with a AMD Dual Core Processor running well over 2ghz and where most STB's run around the 180 to 300mhz range, and of course the memory some STB's have 32 or 64 meg of memory the CW4000HD starts out with 512 meg and you can expand that up to 8 gig.

Edited C/P Ok, Since we all know N3 is coming and people will be asking the same questions over and over without reading older threads with the same title, I will answer a few of your "yet to be asked" questions here: Q- When is Nagra3 going to be here? A- N3 will be here very soon before the end of the year. Sooner for BEV, and about 6 months later for Chuck. Q- Will my current FTA Receiver be able to handle it? A- If N3 is hacked successfully, your FTA Receiver will be able to handle it. It was said back in the N1-N2 days that the Pansat 2500 wouldn't be able to handle N2 but we all know that now to not be the case at all. Q- Is N3 hacked and will they be able to hack it? A- At this time we don't know for sure but strangely enough, the coders don't seem to be worried about it at all so that should tell you something. Anything is hackable, remember money can make anything happen! The hardest part will be glitching into the new cards. Q- I see alot of channels moving to Mpeg4 and the providers plan to move everything to Mpeg4 soon, will I need an HD receiver to view the channels? A- NO, Mpeg4 is just a compression method, it does not mean it is HD. While HD programming is mostly Mpeg4 at the moment, that does not mean it has to be, in fact they also broadcast HD in Mpeg2. Most FTA receivers are Mpeg2, however. Q- Will I need a new receiver when Mpeg4 is the main stream? A- Yes, unless you have a HD FTA Receiver, those already receive and decode Mpeg4. Q- How soon will everything turn Mpeg4? A- Not for quite awhile, as it would require the providers to swap out a great majority of their sub receivers first that are only Mpeg2 capable. Q- If I live in the U.S. will my receiver stop working once everything turns digital? A- No, your FTA Receiver (and any other television viewing receiver) is already digital. Q- Will we be down for awhile once N3 hits? A- Possibly Yes, the coders likely will not release any fix until the providers have completely switched over so get a backup ready whether it be recorded movies or a minimum subscription. Only time will tell. Q- How will we know when N3 is upon us? A- You will know when some of your premium channels start dropping off and a rescan will not bring them back for viewing. Usually the providers start with International and Porn as those have the least subscribers incase anything goes wrong. Q- Is DAVE hacked? (DTV) A- Many trusted and extremely credible sources say that DAVE is hacked, but due to the wrath of DAVE and the consequences of messing with his patented signal, it is underground and the smart ones who are staying quiet are enjoying DAVE. Not very many though. That is why DAVE releases new cards, not because he wants to change the logo, but because there is a weakness. Remember, changing cards costs money! Q- Why can't we get NFL Sunday Ticket? A- Because NFL ST is being broadcast using N3 encryption. Q- I was thinking about upgrading my receiver but now I'm not so sure with N3 right around the corner, what should I do? A- We always recommend an upgrade whenever possible, however, make sure you upgrade with a brand that is reliable in their support, that will ensure that once N3 is hacked, you will be one of the first on your block to have TV again! There will indeed be price gouging on FTA receivers for the first ones to come out with the N3 fix. You can bet on that! Stay ahead of the game people. End C/P

it seems that the actual cards have been hacked but it is going to take a good while until we see anything in key form, infact i'm not even sure we will anytime soon. It is said that if something does come of it, premiere are going to change over to nagra3 just after the new year. A guy on another forum who works for premiere confirmed that this is the plan at the minute. So it looks like if anything does come of it, the way the plans are we will get premiere for 2-3months tops, that's providing nagra3 becomes available in softkey form.

 My apologies for sending you this P.M.”I don’t know where to ask you this question properly, so please forgive me if I should have asked elsewhere. The last download for my receivers S/W was done by sunny. It’s a 13F which only gives me Echo 7, Echo but no Nimiq 1, Nimiq 2. I hope this download from you has corrected this, and if not, would you suggest assistance to help correct my situation? I thought I purchased a HD receiver that will allow me any and all HD satellite reception for my Plasma monitor but on any Dish HD transmission the best I get is 480i. Please consider that while I was receiving Bev I also did receive true 720p. I’m a bit loss on what I purchased and I do believe that if others are experiencing my dilemma then nfusion_nuvenio_nv_hd will correct an obvious - only to them – situation. I would greatly appreciate any assistance from you.” I realize NOW this is what NEWS is all about. I sure would like my HD coming in. Very embarrassed ,robcando |
