Review Of FTA Market March 2008
Color codes (ratings are for both providers):
Red Down most or all of the month Yellow Down around half of the month Purple Up majority of the month with most fixes timely Blue Up with fixes on a timely basis for all issues Viewsat Definitely on top of the game this month. Aside from CaptiveWorks this was the only FTA brand to have the B3V solutions pre-coded into their BIN files so they did not go down the last two times that B3V made changes. DVB DVB cards still the first (not including plastic) to release fixes for provider issues. I highly recommend a DVB for at least testing/backup to your regular FTA. CaptiveWorks Definitely on top of the game this month. Aside from Viewsat this was the only FTA brand to have the B3V solutions pre-coded into their BIN files so they did not go down the last two times that B3V made changes. Nfusion No changes with Nfusion for March. Boxes are still up and running using IKS. A must consider for the future. CNX Has been in the top 5 for releasing patches and fixes in March. Files have not held up as well in the past, requiring new files for minor B3V issues. Pansat Within the top 5 for fix releases. BINs have not held up as well as Viewsat & CaptiveWorks. Captain Was among the first (surprisingly) to release a fix for the last big DN issue. Support has not been bad this month. Still dont trust long term support has it has been poor most of the time. Extremeview Apparently the EV coders decided that they would work this month. Was among the first to release a fix for the last major DN issue and has released other files on a timely/semi-timely basis. More complete fixes than usual this month. Based on lack of long term support still not recommended except as doorstop. Sonicview Good timely support for all issues this month. SV BIN files did not hold up as well as expected like Viewsat & CaptiveWorks files. Satopia The support from team blacklist for this box has been less than stellar. Fixes still not timely. I would not recommend this box at this time until support improves to the Pansat level. Sonysat/Spacestar Has put out fixes for most issues, some more timely than others. Based on past experience I expect the pattern of one or two great fixes to continue. Expect more downtime with Sonysat & Spacestar. Azira Files have came out for all provider issues this month but far from the fastest for sure. Coolsat Still way behind on fixes, taking forever to release fixes. Very poor EMU that is first to go down for each new issue. |
