vBexperience Awards

We have not fooled around with the vBexperience awards, so that is a rotating award as well that boboisno1 has now. If anyone has any suggestions we can start an award program of sorts.

I was going to put this in the Site Helpers area only, but felt more input is better. So we can probably configure anything up from the vBexperience module that anyone can think of. We might as well use it since it is running there already.

So, any suggestions or ideas you may have are welcomed.

Great idea. One thing that would be nice, but not sure if it could be done, is a way to identify contributions to specific areas such as individual receiver forums, LNB and Dish, or computer support. It would also be nice to have a link in quick links or the User CP to easily locate the vbExperience and explanation of awards.

How do you get to be a site helper

We have so many regular members posting now and the vbExperience doesnt seem to function correctly. It seems to pass the New Awards randomly, even to members that post very rarely. How about any of one of these;

Activity, Posting, Community, Helpful awards be given when a member reaches, say 20,000 posts, then one of the New Awards given when they reach 50,000 posts and then a random award when a member continuously helps out other members, this can fluctuate. Would a suggestion like this be too difficult to set up?

Site Helpers are promoted by simply helping out here.

When you want to take it to the next level, we will promote you.

If you are also a known Moderator or helper, privileges are simply granted.

The vBExperience can be located by clicking on it. It is on the top right hand side of the forum, scroll down and on the bottom left is a button that says See all awards. Dont you have access to that?

I try to help but don't have nearly the knowledge as most of the more experienced members

The vBExperience link is in the navigation bar when you are using the Default Style skin. (lower left dropdown box) We didn't place it in the main skin, but we will soon when we upgrade the skin and use a regular navbar look for our regular skin. It is hard to customize a customized navbar. Too much code going on.

Everyone into FTA began as a newbie.
You are doing very well helping out here.
The little you do always goes a long way.

The more you read and hang out here you will discover you are becoming not only an FTA expert but a forum expert. Trust me on that point. You do not need to know everything about FTA to become a Site Helper.

Your posts in particular are very helpful towards other members.

I am using the knockout skin; the one that came up when I started. I usually come in through the NEW POSTS at the top of the screen. I've checked the INDEX page as well, but I see no link to vbExperience there. I found it by a search and using a link posted about vbExperience. So, my suggestion was a link in something like Quick Links or, as AdminK mentioned, the navigation bar.

Once at the vbExperience page, I can go to the All Awards area. What I see there is the award name and the person holding the award. But, there isn't anything to let us know why they won the award or explain what the award means other than the title implication.

Don't get me wrong. Just suggestions. I think this place is great. If there is anything I can do to help, you may call on me.

Thanks. I was (am) using the knockout skin. I switched to the default skin and found the vbExperience link. That is what I was looking for. I understand the coding issues. I maintain a photo contest forum and several pages to support the forum. Luckily, I don't have that many changes to make on a regular basis, but when I took over the forum, I gave it a total makeover. I am looking forward to your new upgrades.

The heading on top of the awards explains what they are for. Glad you changed to the Default so now you can see them.
