Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
Whoa whoa, read the last post better. All you have to do is setup you computer the way that it said in the last post i made. Don't worry about that old tutorial we are thru with that now.

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
Oh those 3 steps at the end didn't apply to what we are doing and are confusing so I took them away for now.
If you did the rest we should be good to move on to the next step. So yeah go ahead and hook up the router.

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
Yeah connect both the computer and the ihub to the router. Then goto ipconfig on the receiver and in the slot beside DNS IP key in this ip 192.168.1.45. Then hit apply and put it on a scrambled channel see if it will come in. Like I said I dont know that this way will work but it's as good as I can tell you right now. There is some freezing so don't expect a stable picture tonight. Tomorrow should be better.
If this way doesn't work for you you'll have to go out and buy a crossover cable at you local electronics retailer. It'll cost ya about 5-10$. Good luck and good night for now, I have to go to bed. If you need me I'll be here tomorrow bright and early.

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
No. still scrambled ah well, we did manage an awful lot tonight, when you read this in the morning perhaps you could explain a little more as to what I have to ask for at the store with this cross over cable. Once again thank you so much. :-)

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
Morning desertbuster, just glad we're making progress.
A crossover cable looks just like an ethernet cable. Go to any electronics store and ask for a "Cat 5 (or 6) crossover cable". They will know what you need.

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
Cat 5 would be more common. You might be able to find one, but it will look just like any other ethernet cable.

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
Plug the iHub into the computer's ethernet port. Go into ipconfig on the receiver and set the setting type to dhcp. then hit apply and change to a scrambled channel (like HBO or something) and see if it comes in.

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
Yeah, set DNS to no, hit apply and then set DNS back to yes and hit apply again. That should put the proper number in there for you.

Re: iHub CHAT and HELP discussions
should I have put it on static first? nothing is happening scrambled still. also my computer is saying local area connection 3 limited or no connectivity. Is is possible to have the cables in the wrong way round. The guy at the computer store made the cable up he seemed to know what he was doing.
