New proxy program for iHub
I found this on another site. Thanks goes to raysmith for putting it together it works great. You need to have a program called "Tor" (see below) to run it but I've had it up for and hour so far with no freezing.
C/P from raysmith I been working for the last two weeks on creating software bridge between ihub and Socks proxy (Tor) using C#, the application worked successfully with ihub and linkSys router, so I though to shared with the members in this site and get some feedback. The reason behind this application is to hid your ip and give the user some privacy when using ihub. Requirement: .Net FrameWork 3.5 Router (linksys, etc..) windows platform. steps: 1-in you receiver go to ipconfig and change the server ip to your pc ip address where BlackRock will be running, hit apply and shutdown you receiver. 2- in your pc, run your socks proxy (Tor) and take note of the ip address and port that Tor uses to listen for connection. 3-lunch BlackRock, in the first section enter the i*s server ip address and port (77.93.xx.xx: 1920). 4- in the second section enter your socks proxy "Tor" ip address and port, Tor usually runs on 127.0.0.1 and port 9050. 5- the last section is your pc ip address, and port 1920 (to match the i*s server). Hit start. 6- Turn on you receiver and go to 320. if every thing setup correctly the chl will show up and all your traffic will be routed through BlackRock to Tor, you can see the activity of the traffic on Tor screen. please send me back your feedback, this is version 1, and if members start using it I will add more features to it. Also BlackRock will work with any other brand of receivers that supports ipConfig. enjoy Last edited by beekermc : 06-18-2009 at 01:14 PM. |

Re: New proxy program for iHub
One thing I should point out about this program is I couldn't get it to run in GUI mode with the vidalia bundle. But using the tor.exe from the package it brought up the command console and now it works great.

Re: New proxy program for iHub
He says it will work with any receiver with ipconfig. Try it out, let us know.
You'll have to know the khub server ip and port, your own computer's ip (same port as khub server) and be able to change the server ip in the config. |

Re: New proxy program for iHub
If you are using a Sonicview. Change "Use DNS" to no. Then it'll let you input a different server ip.

Re: New proxy program for iHub
Yeah the PC has to be running to run the .exe unfortunately. There's been a lot of freezing today with or without the proxy. Chalk it up to SV working on their servers. This won't in any way eliminate freezing (and in fact may make it slightly worse), just helps with privacy when connecting to the IKS server. The guy who made the program said he's working on it to work with better servers but he just released this today so it'll likely be a little while before any updates.

Re: New proxy program for iHub
Tor is a great program and was recommend to me by a security specialist when I asked about keeping anonymity online so anything that works with tor is great but I am still worried about anything using IKS I dont like having any kind of trail leading to me when I am online

Re: New proxy program for iHub
Tor is great it's a little laggy sometimes though due to the large pathway halfway around the world. It's great for entry level users though. Very easy to setup and use. I've actually been using this program with a SSH security tunneler. Now that it has SOCKS5 support I'm gonna give that a run. So if anyone out there likes a different proxy program Blackrock will function with that as well.

Re: New proxy program for iHub
If you are using Blackrock be advised that the SV IKS server's IP has changed to, 77.93.75.89.

Re: New proxy program for iHub
Thanks for this info! I've been able to connect with the ihub directly, but not with tor/blackrock.
Tor is loaded properly on my computer I think.. it says "client functionality is working"... In blackhawk, I set the iks ip to be 77.93.75.89 1920 the proxy server addy is 127.0.0.1 9050 (this is confirmed by tor) the blackrock server ip addy is my local computer ip addy port 1920 I've set the server ip on the STB to be the ip of the computer running tor and blackhawk, but nothing happens... no updated messages on the tor screen. I suspect this might have something to do wtih opening ports on the router/firewall. I had to forward 1920 on my firewall in order to get the ihub to connect directly to the iks server, but not sure how to forward ports to make everything work using tor/blackhawk. any guidance? Thanks! |

Re: New proxy program for iHub
Yeah actually I've been having the same problem haven't been running blackrock for the last couple days because of it. I'll look up the solution right now and pass it on if I find one. It stopped working as soon as they changed the server to the new IP, I hope they didn't block proxies.
