C&P
It seems that the SV server team is now choosing to enforce the serial numbers that were issued with your iHub.. If anyone is getting a scramble signal now who was working fine piror to 10 PM EST last night and cannot figure out why, you may need to reinstall your serial number. It is being reported on a few sites that this has become a problem for SV owners and has created a bit of confusion among them. This really would apply to anyone who may have had their Hubs returned or replaced and used the old serial number. I know a few folks who were in this boat and it took a little while to work through the issue. Also keep in mind that SV was not really enforcing the serial number before this, so if your having a connection issue now and you did not have a hub issue , ie, return , you may have incorrectly inputted you serial number. Hopefully you kept the number and can reapply it to the config menu Again, this looks to have been done with no forewarning by the server team. I don't think they thought it would be any issue to anyone expect those who may have gotten cloned or otherwise illegit hubs... One way or another though , if your having issues as I mention above, the fix should be fairly easy and long as your legit and have your serial number... end C&P Lets hope none of you members have bought a Clone. .

Re: Some Disturbing News About SV iHUB
nice. when my hub smoked and I asked SV it they could do anything for me with the serial number ( even tell me if it was a legit iHub ) they would not even answer me.

Re: Some Disturbing News About SV iHUB
Good info Ladybird. SV iHUB now requires a s/n and the correct one entered
into IP Config menu. If you had a iHUB replaced then use that s/n not the old one. If you had it repaired there was no reason for the s/n to be changed. The s/n is very difficult to see and I suggest you take a picture of it and then increase the image size on your PC and have a look at the characters this way. Or if you have a good magnifying glass. These have to be entered correctly. The "e" and "a", "0" and "6" do look a lot alike and can easily be entered in error. So be sure you have this exactly right. Folks have entered their numbers a long time ago and have taken it for granted that they are right. So check and recheck.

Re: Some Disturbing News About SV iHUB
One other suggestion if you don't have a magniying glass to read the numbers. If you have a printer with a scanner, scan the number then enlarge it with a text editor. You may have to ocr it to do that.
The serial number for the iHub as well as many electronic devices is in hexidecimal. Hexidecimal (commonly referred to simply as "Hex") only has 16 characters. They are the digits 0 through 9 and the letters A through F. If you look at the serial number for your iHub you will notice the letters are small lower case letters and may be hard to read. For instance the letter "e" may look like a letter "o" with a slash through the middle but it is an "e". When you go to the setup screen for entering the serial number look at the bottom of your screen and you will see a key for which remote buttons to use for the letters. Now just simply enter them and save and you are done. If you are still having problems, try removing the hub, rebooting without the hub attached and then rebooting again, Then attach the hub and reboot once more, when the system comes back up reapply the double checked serial number in the config menu, once it's all done, reboot one more time and see it that works. .

Re: Some Disturbing News About SV iHUB
I have re-enterd the serial number and tried DHCP, tried use DNS tried not using DNS, tried hard coding the server IP in....
No luck with any of it. I get "No Service or Scrambled" on all channels. |

Re: Some Disturbing News About SV iHUB
FWIW, I did a power down after making changes in the IP Settings and lost all channels. After much searching I found that the sat setup parameters had changed on their own (LNB type and Net Search went to "On"). Once I fixed them back correctly the channels came back.
I just mention this as I thought for a long time that my serial number wasn't being accepted, hence the dark channels, but it was fine. |
