Working hard drives for SV-360 Elite

Please post tested and confirmed working hard drives for the SV360 Elite here. This will help other members decide which hard drive to purchase for their receiver. I thought I would make a sticky where everyone could post their findings since this question keeps coming up. Post working hard drive name, model number and size. No questions or discussion. All question or discussion posts will be deleted.

-Seagate Freeagent 250Gb and 500GB (both are externally powered)
-Maxtor 250G USB External (External power)

Re: Working hard drives for SV-360 Elite

The big box store in my area ( sam's place) is clearing out all of their extrenal hard drives. A ton of good deals to be found. Was looking at this 500 gig Seagate unit for under 75 bucks.

So some of these hard drives will work while other will not. Need to make sure I don't buy an expensive paper weight.

Re: Working hard drives for SV-360 Elite

Seagate Freeagent 250Gb and 500GB (both are externally powered)

I have a 250 Gb unit and it dose work but not always. At times when you want to record or use the timer the stb says no USB mounted. Even thought the unit is connected and powered. Boot the HD and that usually fixes the issue.

Re: Working hard drives for SV-360 Elite

Any of the bigger capacity units working?
The Terabyte unit is really only a few pennies more.
Going to have to take another looksie as to what exactly they have marked down.

Once these have been saved onto the hard drive an ECM will not prevent their playback?
Need to get some decent programming recorded so when my rabbit ears quit working next Feb we'll have something to entertain us.

Re: Working hard drives for SV-360 Elite

Any personal favs from those who have this particular STB?
Is there any drives that are a bit more suited to the application or those more trouble-free?
Sometimes the cheapest isn't always the best way to go.

Re: Working hard drives for SV-360 Elite

I'm using the Maxtor Brand Drives but had to format with the Elite/ Premier units.

750GB external powered USB 2.0
160GB 2.0 USB Powered (One Touch 4 Mini) ultra portable fits in your hand.

They both have a blue working light that matches the SV logo.

Re: Working hard drives for SV-360 Elite

Western Digital-My Book,Essential edition-750gb-77.00w/ sale/coupon at staples online.
I read were one person said they had problems and took it to a authorized repair who said the smaller 250gb work best, but I have had no problems with the larger HD. The software could have been updated to handle the larger HD now.
