Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

I'm currently trying to setup my dish to receive both 119 and 110 but so far im only getting 110. Im getting 99% quality on both sats but for some reason all the channels are cloned from 110 any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

You have the settings the same for both satellites. So, you basically scanned the same satellite twice. Do a Factory Reset with the remote first. This does nothing to the bin file software you installed. It just deletes the antenna setup and errant channels that you scanned.

Use these settings below:

Echo 7 119W
LNB Power: On
LNB Type: OCS-DP
LNB Freq: 11250
22KHz: Off
TP: 12239
DiSEqC: Port 1
Motor: Off
Legacy SW: None

Now either here or the next settings you put in, in the graph area, you will notice the actual satellite you are on.

Echo 8 110W
LNB Power: On
LNB Type: OCS-DP
LNB Freq: 11250
22KHz: Off
TP: 12224
DiSEqC: Port 2
Motor: Off
Legacy SW: None

The settings (not exactly from a Sonicview) are what they have to be set on. The rest is adjusting the dish properly. The most common problem is not having the Skew set properly. The whole dish turns like a steering wheel. You loosen the 2 nuts at the back of the dish reflector plate, and you will see the Skew graduation numbers there. Then when you find one satellite, the other one should be already adjusted in. If I knew where you are, I would tell you your Skew factor.

Re: Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

Ok from reading that there may be two possible things that went wrong because i just restored factory and did that before i posted. First off what does port 1 and port 2 mean, does it mean i have to run two coax cables from my lnb or is it just a setting? this has confused me alot recently.

Re: Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

They are settings. The LNB can 2 receivers, and each port will both have the same settings for each receiver. There is a DiSEqC switch built into the Dish Pro LNB. You may have received a DiSEqC switch with the receiver. Just disconnect it if you installed it. It is not needed. Even though you cannot see the switch, it is in there.

So, where are you roughly ??

Re: Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

ok heres all i know. i have a sonicview premier receiver with Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF with one coax coming from the first port of my lnb. when i checked my quality i am getting 99% on echostar 8 and when i check echostar 7 it says 99% as well other than the fact in the right hand cornor it still says echostar 8. And when i tried the settings as port 2 my quality drops down to 0 for both satellites.

Re: Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

Well, port 1 is for Echo 7 119W. Port 2 is for 110W. You get Quality on both, but since you put the same settings in both, you are either seeing the same satellite from one LNB, or not seeing a satellite from the other LNB. Your dish must appear sort of level. That is incorrect. It should lean, by virtue of the skew.

Here is a program, try to figure it out since you cannot answer my question.

Here is the Link --> Dish Point Utility

Unzip the file, then double click it.

Enter your zip code, and check the Dish 500 circle.

The numbers are meant for a dish with a level mast pole.

Good Luck !!

Re: Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

Reread this thread a couple of times. The settings I gave you have to be put in that way. If both satellites are not showing up as working, it is very simple to understand, the dish is misaligned. There are 2 meters, an S meter and a Q meter. The S meter only shows the connection strength to the LNB. The Q meter is the actual pointing strength. The S meter is called the Signal meter, the Q meter is called the Quality meter. The meters will tell you everything, once you understand them.

And, I can tell you already, the Dish is NOT installed properly.

Have a good one here !!

Re: Dish 500 w/ DishPro Plus Twin/Dual LNBF

No problem, glad you got it !!

If I explain everything, I know you have to get it eventually. All the information was here and laid out so you could understand it. I can already tell you, most of the other sites do not really care about anyone. They just want your money. The real fact of the matter is they actually do not know what they are doing, themselves. Most guys hook up a dish that was already pre-installed, and they think they know everything.

Stay around here, and you will be an expert in no time.
