House Antenna
Thanks in advance everybody
My question could be considered stupid, but I don't know the answer. I have a Captive Works 800 and I want to hook up an outside antenna so I can view TV during down time, can I hook up a seperate antenna cable on the back where it says antenna and then just turn the unit off in the back when I'm down and watch my local digital TV, with that being said, I also want to make sure I can use my digital converter box, in other words outside antenna to the converter box, converter box to back of receiver to the antenna side, turn receiver off and watch local TV? Thanks junodale |

Re: House Antenna
Yes, exactly the way you said it. You can also use a different input on back of tv, which is what I would recomend.

Re: House Antenna
i would hook it up as suggested above.
antenna, digital box, then hook the box directly to a separate input on the TV and just change your inputs when you want to switch. |

Re: House Antenna
When you say switch inputs, are you saying that if DN is down just shut off the box and the antenna will come right up?
Thanks again junodale |

Re: House Antenna
No need to turn the back power switch off just using the power button on the remote works.

Re: House Antenna
most modern TVs have several inputs in the back, coax, component, etc. you should be using component to connect your stb to your TV, then you could use the coax in, or other digital output from the new digital box right into the back of the tv. using the tv remote you can switch what input the tv is working on.

Re: House Antenna
Ok guys and girls
It worked out perfect. I even bought a cable-antenna splitter, its a splitter that allows you to use one cable to the room, I put a splitter inside so I could run one to the STB and one to the converter box, then I used cable hook-up from STB to TV, then used the input jacks for the other, then I set the remote to work both TV and STB, I just turn the STB off, then switch to input and I have digital TV, the only thing I couldnt do was use the same remote for the converter, I have to use the converter remote to change channels. I hope this gets saved somewhere where other people to use for reference, I really don't have to turn the receiver off, just switch the remote from STB to TV, then go to input on the TV, but I sut the STB off anyway just to be safe. Thanks Thanks Thanks junodale |
