MaxHD w/8psk chip

I just got my MaxHD and I can get it to work fine and I have signal with the standard chip but when I put in the 8psk chip i don't get anything. Any help would be great. Thanks. I thought it might be something with the ext turner but I don't see an option for that.

Re: MaxHD w/8psk chip

Sorry we missed this thread.

The 8PSK chip you are referring to is called the SK200

It should auto-detect and I cannot remember if it needs to be turned on like on a Viewsat 9000HD with an Ext. Tuner setting. I believe when you are that menu area it just tells you the SK200 or 8PSK is detected, whichever comes up in there. If you want to get an HD channel, this board needs to be installed. If it is not being detected, chances are you might have a bad board. I had a friend who needed to send his back for a replacement, as his wasn't being detected.

It is also best to test DN HD with a Dish 1000 or Dish 1000.2 so you can get 129W. Most HD channels are on that satellite. I am not sure which satellite the channel you are seeking is on.

Check --> LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite and click and the 61°W-160°W for Packages and tell me which satellite the channel you are looking for is on.

Re: MaxHD w/8psk chip

After installing the new module, you need to do a factory default. You should then be able to go into the system info in the menu and it should show "optional tuner found".
Then re-setup your antenna settings and rescan your sats.
If you do the default and still don't see the optional tuner found in system settings, then yes, the tuner may in fact be bad. I had a bad one right out of the box....but I also heard of some Max HD's that had bad solder joints on the mother board under the module....hard to say what the problem is, but see if you can get it to show that it found the tuner and we can go from there.....
Good luck!

Re: MaxHD w/8psk chip

Lots of god video clips on U-Tube about the 8psk board install.
Make sure your body has a GROUND to the Maxhd. Without the ground and static? You can cook the board. Lots of 8psk boards were shipped bad .

Before you do anything else. Follow these steps below to check your system.

On Remote , Click Menu,System Info, then click Receiver Info.Should look like this.

Bootloader 01.06
Main Sw : Whatever file number here .
Satellite: U013
H/W Version: 001.000
Model Name: OHS3000A
Checksum: Press Ok
OPTIONAL TUNER : FOUND OR NONE . If this line says found ? Your 8psk is fine !

After checking this .Unhook your sat coax from the rear. Reboot .
After it comes back up load the latest factory file. Reboot
Load the latest sat file U013 . Reboot
Load the latest working file . Reboot
Scan on sat at a time .Turn the rest off . After each scan .Reboot
When you install your coax or unhook it ? Turn the Maxhd off from the rear first.

Hope this helps you . I bought and sold 30 of them . Had my share of problems. Good Luck.

Re: MaxHD w/8psk chip

I put in the 8psk chip and did a factory default and it is not showing optional tuner found. I must have a bad chip. I will have to try and exchange it. Thanks for all your help.
