Viewsat MAXHD with no 8psk module installed...



Here is a picture of the slot where the Add-on Module will be installed on the Viewsat MAX HD. As you can see it will be a small sized board and simply plugged into this slot on the main processor board. There will be more info on the 8psk module as it progresses. Many units are shipped with the 8psk module installed, so you can check if you are having problems setting up HD, and tell if it was installed at all.

Notice the black chip on the 8psk module installed above. This board has been renamed to the SK200 board. Some receivers may not come with this board.

Do not fall for scammers or those who think the 8psk modules are the same as for the Viewsat 9000HD. They are not. As you can see from the picture above, the ViewSat 9000HD Add-on Module will not work in the Viewsat MAX HD.

No fan is needed, as this 8psk module is a totally different design. The Viewsat MAXHD on it's own without any 8psk module installed runs cool and is no hotter then a Viewsat Ultra. The Add-on Module was designed to add very little to no additional heat.

Thank you guys for the informative thread. I too would like to purchase a VS MAX HD. But I am a little bit confused by this whole 8psk thing.

So do I keep using the included 8psk card and then expand with the newer one and they both work together? Does the newer one give you more HD channels?

And why is this 8psk card different? (SKY-200 8psk for VS MAD HD)
