How To For The Viewsat Receivers
Here's a setup to help you see if you can get your receiver setup correctly, if you have anything wrong, it can cause you to loose channels, also setting the LNB on the wrong type will do the same thing.
Also you may have to default your unit, then re flash a sat info file, a new one on your unit, this will update the TP's, and make sure your (Auto TP is set to ON) in your Options, if this is (OFF) it will cause the unit to drop channels. Good Luck, 0dd A Newbie Setup Guide for your VS2000 Platinum/Lite with a Dish 500 DP LNB Warning: Always use the right bin file on you receiver, If you have lost Picture on your receiver do the following: 1) Do a factory default first before unhooking your receiver (Always) 2) Flash the latest factory bin v.2071P for extreme, do this to enable a clean bin flash (every time) you have a new release. 3) Flash the latest new release DBPSW_070911P/L for the Platinum after 100%/Inst/0000, turn (ON) unit with remote. Note: if unit is on (Stand-by mode) then wait until it reboots, then turn it off on back switch before unhooking from the PC. 4) Go to MENU, Installation, Parental Option,Turn (OFF) all settings, until completely finished with setup. 5) Setup time(GMT) is -5:00 behind Eastern Standard Time in US/CA Summer time (on) This is important, or it will not fill up your EPG. Next is the most important part of setup, if not setup correctly will cause you alot of grief. So please follow closely. Tips and Hints for a great setup 6) Now your (SATINFO) file is the most important part of setup, you will need to find the best file for the type of dish, or the dishes you have. NOTE: You may have to try several different files before you settle on (1) remember if you scan 8,10 and only pickup a small amount of channels, (STOP) right there and rescan a different satinfo file, most times they are corrupted because of the transfer of files on and from a receiver to your PC then thur the download. As of today a simple scan of echostar 8,10 should give you 350 channels, and 275 on echostar 7, again nimiqs 1,3 should be around 250, use this scale to see if your picking up all channels with your satinfo file. Important Info!!! It is very simply if you use someone else's sat file your viewing what he scanned, if you load Someone eles's file and dont live near him in Canada or the US your Not going to receive all the channels, Why? Because if your out of range of the TP signal from the satellite's it will just scan 0% Quality and 0% signal. The [sat.file], or [satinfo file] is the most important thing you can load on your receiver, if you follow this instructions you will bring back your unit. Basic is (110.0w or EchoStar 8,10) if you have a file on your receiver that has the older version of 6,8 you will need to change this to 8,10, or 8,X. This is because DN has setup the transponders to look for newer version of this file to work at its best. Basic again is (119.0w or EchoStar 7) and (91.0w or Nimiqs 1,3). How to make 12239 stay on echostar 7, please follow carefully. 7) Next your receiver is ready to scan with latest bin file, right?. (NO) Next go to Channel Scan in your Menu click on echostar 7 first, scoll down to Edit TP,click (OK) this will Highlight the TPs, now this is very important! (DELETE 12224 TP), yes thats right (Why?, Because this is a Spot Beam for a different Satellite). Now EXIT and Save. 8) Now again back to Channel Scan to echostar 8,X, again scoll down to Edit TPs, click (OK) again and (highlight 12239 and DELETE it), Again this is a spot beam for echostar 7, and if you leave this to TP's on each other it will scan and Duplicate channels. Now EXIT and save. 9) Nimiqs 1,3 doesn't really matter since your scanning a different dish. 10) Now your ready to setup you Antenna Setup. This shows the setup using Dish Pro 500 LNBFs and a Single DTV LNBF Dish. Note: Remember if you do not have a (Dp) on your LNB's then use (Legacy for your LNB type in setup). Note: if using a diseqc switch 4x1 that came with your unit, follow the instructions on the Legacy SW setup carefully, it does make a difference. Satellite.................EchoStar 8,10,or 8,X (110.0w) LNB Power .............ON LNB Type...............OSC-Dp< if using a dish 500 Dp>but still depends on the LNB type you have.Make sure they match! LNB Freq................11250< because this is low freq for echostar 8,10 22KHz....................OFF TP Freq..................12224< as this is a spot beam for 8,X > Search option..........All DiSEqC 1.0..............Port 2 Motor ...................OFF LegacySW..............Dish [2] < unless your using a DiESqC Switch 4X1,or a SW2X1,DP34 or DP44 Switch.Use correct settings > Scan F1, and Save ....... (Important) do not scan [F2]or Blind scan you will only wind-up with Duplicate channel's again]. Satellite..................Echostar7 (119.0w) LNB power...............ON LNB Type................OSC-Dp< if using a Pro LNB> < Or try legacy if using a legacy LNB, or standard if not using a DN LNB at all > LNB Freq.................11250 22KHz.....................OFF < not using that type of switch > TP Freq...................12239 < Spot beam for this Satellite > Search option..........All DiSEqC 1.0..............Port 1 Legacy SW.............Dish [2] Scan F1,and Save .....Again Do not scan F2 there is (No) reason too. Satellite................... Nimiq1,3 (91.0w) LNB Power................ON LNB Type..................Standard if using a single LNB dish 300,or <extra Dp single LNBF change back to OSC-Dp > LNB Freq..................11250 22KHz......................Off TP Freq...................12224 < or the best address you can fined for signal, and quality, search the list for best Freq.> Search option..........All DiSEqC 1.0..............Port 3 < if using a DIESqC switch > Legacy SW.............Dish [2] F1 to scan and save. 11) Next if you EDIT your Channels, go back to Menu,Options, turn (OFF) Auto TP. Is will allow you to delelte channels without your receiver freezing up. 12)Edit channels and Save by clicking EXIT. 13) Back to Menu,Options and turn back (ON) Auto TP. Finished. If your doing a Standard Scan you should come up with around 800-900 working channels depending on what you prefer. This will take up to 30-45 minute's to complete but will be worth it. Remember to place your channel on [150 or Speed Channel],Keys will Roll in 2-3 minutes every time, and EPG will populate 100% on all Channels. Yes all channel's no freezing up,no jumping back to channel 100 every time you change channels, no Duplicate channels, or any of the other crap that your unit used to do. And as always Enjoy TV.
