Thanks for the information, but there are thousands of v ultra dead, the only way to repair is changing the tsop (some tsop come with subboard). I found where to buy the tsop, but we have to load the boot file before to install the tsop. If you don't do that you can burn off again with new bin. Can you find the boot file for us, we try to fix our clones ourself.

hicder2002

Sounds like you got a clone
Try the repair kit mentioned above, it might work for you even on a clone.
If you got a clone, no tsop programming will work or help.
PGM files are known to have clone killer code in them.

You are exactly right, cdo

I made this kit, put the factory file in, the Loader2 file, and the zmodem32.dll file for windows to run Loader2. I had so many requests on the Viewsat Ultra display problems, rather than explain how to fix their Ultra over and over, this would cure all in one download and the instructions are on the file post. All you have to do is give them the link !!

Remember most Ultra users just use there USB drives, so this was my solution for that Ultra problem.

They probably haven't used Loader2 at all.

If you click on the link, and read the post, you will learn what that Repair Kit was designed to repair. I was simply helping the originator of this thread. If you want a TSOP repair kit, I will make one for you. Next time, start your own thread for your own problem.

Re: Dead Viewsat Ultra 2000 No Power

Strange thing, we never listed an address for accepting money orders. (I actually do hate it when someone says they will donate or are donating when asking for help, because so far that type of approach for asking for help has a Donation probability of zero)

If they are mentioning serial cables in the directions, they are refering to a null modem cable.

My first question, did you get the receiver from an Authorized Dealer ?? Have you checked to see if you have a clone ?? You pop off the top and check the power supply board. If the power supply circuit board is White, it is a genuine Viewsat Ultra, if the power supply circuit board is Brown or Beige, it is a clone. I would advise to check it out first if you are unsure, and let me know.

You can get a Null Modem serial cable (sometimes called a crossover serial cable) at any Electronics or Computer store. You can get them shipped to you in a few days from eBay or websites for around $6 or less.

The best way to program a Viewsat Ultra is with a USB drive. Always use Safe Remove after copying the unzipped file to your USB drive.

Good Luck !!

I would thank you for the donation, but we will never receive it, where ever you sent it to.

Re: Dead Viewsat Ultra 2000 No Power

WC, My Ultra had the white power supply board and it was still a clone. If you call viewsat and read some numbers off the circuit boards they will let you know if its a clone. Clones are allmost perfect now, its hard to tell the differances.

Re: Dead Viewsat Ultra 2000 No Power

Yeah, that is like that main way to distinguish a clone. I never compiled a good information thread to identify a clone totally. That will be coming one day very soon. There are lots of differences, even in the clones you would think are exact copies.
