1 VSPro receiver, Two tvs?

Wondering if i can connect VSPro to two separate tvs, with their own channels to control. So 1 receiver, 2 tvs, 2 controllers. If i can\'t with VSPro, then which receiver would be best to accomplish that. Any input on this would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: 1 VSPro receiver, Two tvs?

You would need two receivers if you wanted to watch different channels on both TV's. But you can connect two TV's to one receiver, but you have to watch the same channel. I had that when I lived in the UK with Sky. You will need a dual tuner/splitter, they have special ones for satellite, the regular ones are 900 mhs and the satellite ones are up 2150 mhs, you will get a worse picture with a regular cable one.

Word of advice, don't buy two remotes, or you might find a family member in another room changes channels right in the middle of something good you are watching. That causes arguments.

And welcome to the site. ......

Re: 1 VSPro receiver, Two tvs?

It\\\'s not like that for all receivers. I had dish network before where it came with 1 receiver for 2 tvs, 2 controllers, 2 seperate channels being watched on each tv at the same time. And I\\\'m wondering if the VSPro receiver or others can be made for 2 as well. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to AAAFTA. Some receivers have 2 tuners so that a single box can run 2 TVs at the same time with different programming. Boxes with a single tuner can be used for 2 TVs, but you will see the same programming on both. To find out about the VSpro, check out the specs for your receiver. Off-hand, I don't know exactly which models have dual tuners.

Re: 1 VSPro receiver, Two tvs?

Sounds to me like the DN receiver had dual tuners and dual outputs.
FTA receivers only have one TV output.

An FTA receiver might have dual tuners, but that is so you can watch one channel and record another in the case of some FTA PVRs. FTA receivers are only good for watching one TV however.

Even if the DN receiver can be watched on 2 TVs, with only 2 tuners, you cannot watch 2 different channels on 2 TVs and record a third channel. See, 2 tuners leaves you one tuner short. So, there is also a compromise on that system as well.

It makes more sense to have a system the way FTA receivers are working. 2 tuners and one TV output.

I also believe that DN receiver you are describing is the one that DN lost million$ to TiVo for infringing on their copyright. DN might not have that model receiver available anymore, I am not sure.

Re: 1 VSPro receiver, Two tvs?

Well, Thing is, it didn\\\\\\\'t have two outputs. TV 1 had the reciever with the output, TV 2 Had a line coming from the outside directly. But the Receiver still controlled the channels on the line with controller 2. And controller 1 was strickly for TV 1. Vice-versa .

Re: 1 VSPro receiver, Two tvs?

First time i had it was about 4 years ago. Cut it, like 1 year later. Then i got it again about a year ago, cut it last month. Same set up. Could give u the model, still have to ship it back. And wire set up. Let it get more light out, about to be 3(central) in the mourning. But the wire for tv 2 comes from the same source as the wire for tv1. (Also, i had to put it on channel 73, on tv 2, to be able to watch it.) While the back of the receiver had an antenna output where there was a little antenna attached. But it was to give the control for tv 2 range. Antenna was L shaped.

Re: 1 VSPro receiver, Two tvs?

if ya look at your setup to. u will be running a diplexer on that wire that comes of your main receiver to your second tv.....that is the receiver that woodcreeker is talking about.

this is the stb u talk about.....

Dual-mode operation

Unlike any other non-Dish DVR we know of, the ViP622 has what Dish calls a dual mode to feed two televisions. There's a second, entirely separate set of AV outputs on its back panel, which send video and audio to a secondary standard-def television (TV2) in addition to the main HDTV set (TV1). Aside from saving multi-TV households from having to buy or rent another box, the TV2 option allows a viewer on the secondary television to watch any of the recorded shows on the ViP622's hard disk (HD programs are downconverted to SD for display on TV2). In dual mode, the ViP622's three tuners are split among the two TVs: TV1 gets the over-the-air (OTA) broadcast and one satellite tuner, while TV2 gets the second satellite tuner. In other words, you can't watch live OTA programs on TV2. The secondary television even has separate favorite-channel lists, search histories, and aspect-ratio controls from TV1, and a user on TV2 can access most of the menu settings, with the exception of closed captions, without disturbing TV1. Dish installers can hook up both TVs when the box is installed, although TV2 also works with wireless solutions; we had it running with an RF Link AVS-511 transmitter/receiver, for example, and it worked great. As we mentioned, the ViP622 comes with a second, RF remote that can control the box at a range of up to 200 feet. The main disadvantage of dual mode, besides the fact that each TV monopolizes a tuner, is that a user on one TV doesn't get full control of in-progress recordings on the other.

Yeap, That\'s it. But it wasn\'t HD, and u can record with Tv1 and watch with tv2. Vice-versa. Well, i guess that clears it up. \"Unlike any other non-Dish DVR we know of\". Again, thanks guys.
